Today we honor St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, who were martyred within nine days of each other for opposing the schismatic serial killer Henry VIII of England in 1535.
St. John Fisher was canonized in 1935 and is the patron of the Catholic Diocese of Rochester, NY.
St. Thomas More was canonized at the same time. He is the patron of politicians, lawyers, and civil servants.
Pray for us, all you angels and saints.

Today's reading for the Feast of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More is 1 Peter 4:12-19 .
Today's Gospel reading is Matthew 10:34-39 .

Dear St. Anthony, you became a Franciscan with the hope of shedding your blood for Christ. In God's plan for you, your thirst for martyrdom was never to be satisfied.
