Miss Maria Sharapova, please shut up.

From the Sports Desk:

Yes, Miss Sharapova is a very pretty girl and a wonderful tennis talent.

BUT

The screaming has got to stop. I will admit her grunts, squeals, and groans after every shot do sound better than some players on tour, but I simply cannot stand to watch Maria play on television with the sound up.

My guess is there is a current school of thought among tennis coaches, trainers, and sports psychologists that encourages this reprehensible behavior in young players like Miss Sharapova. Something about forcing all the evil spirits out of your guts with a Mighty Wind.

All of these people should be sent to Singapore and flogged.

Oh, Maria, Maria, Maria. What are we going to do with you, Miss Sharapova?


BTW, Maria is up 7-6, 3-0 against Nadia Petrova at this moment in her Wimbledon quaterfinal match.

Did I mention that Maria Sharapova is a very pretty girl with a killer smile and spectacular long legs and a lot of athletic ability who sometimes makes these cute little noises while she's playing? She's really nice. I wish everyone was as nice as Miss Maria Sharapova.
