UPI: UCLA Islamic law professor threatened

LOS ANGELES - An Islamic law professor at University of California, Los Angeles, is reportedly receiving death threats for his views on Islam.

Khaled Abou el Fadl has been a target since April, when he says a bullet passed by his head while he was in his home with the front door ajar.

Abou el Fadl told the Los Angeles Times he is also being targeted in the Anaheim-based Al Watan newspaper and several other Arabic-language media outlets.

He calls this a "solicitation of murder" against him.

What is this man's crime, you ask?

Abou el Fadl is known as a prominent critic of Saudi Arabia's puritanical practice known as Wahhabism and has liberal views of Islam, like supporting women in the leading of prayer.

Obviously, the goat rapists can't allow that.

The accounts against him reportedly include commiseration with the White House and the Bush administration, allegations Abou el Fadl calls "a total fabrication."

"There is not one iota of truth in it," said Abou el Fadl, 42. "If they scare me into silence, they will have succeeded. I'm not going to give them that victory."
