Whatever happened to...


...Gheorghe Zamfir, Master of the Panflute?

In the mid-1980's, Zamfir was the bee's knees of mail order musicians. He's still recording and performing. The latest recording I found is an import CD called Like a Breeze/Lamentation of a Lon (My guess is Amazon.com cut off the title and it's Lamentation of a Lonely Heart or something like that. Or "lon" could be Romanian for something.) from July of this year.


You can catch Zamfir performing live with the Athenaeum String Quintet on Tuesday, Jan 24, 2006 at 8:00 PM at the Jack Singer Concert Hall (Ecpa), in Calgary.
