It seems Pope Francis needs to brush up on his Tertullian!

It has been reported (in The ChristLast Media, I must note) that the current Pope does not like the phrase "lead us not into temptation...

"Let no freedom be allowed to novelty, because it is not fitting that any addition should be made to antiquity. Let not the clear faith and belief of our forefathers be fouled by any muddy admixture." -- Pope Sixtus III

WOW.

Philly.com: Lincoln University 201 Ohio State-Marion 78
Garfield Yuille was so peeved at his Lincoln University men's basketball team after Friday's loss to Salem International - their first of the season - that he challenged the players yesterday.

"I told them they better play better defense," Yuille said. "I said, 'Focus on what you're doing.' "

The Lions focused all right. They used their usual run-and-gun offense and full-game full-court press to set five Division III scoring records, including most points in a game, in a 201-78 romp over Ohio State-Marion in Salem, W. Va.

The Lions, who emptied their bench against the overmatched 1-5 Scarlet Wave, set Division III records for most points in a half (104 in the second half), most field goals attempted in a game (141), most field goals made in a game (79), and largest margin of victory (123 points).

The previous Division III scoring mark of 172 points was set by Redlands (Calif.) in 2005.

Individually, senior guard Sami Wylie set a Division III record by draining 21 three-pointers and a Lincoln record by scoring 69 points overall. The Southern High graduate was 23 of 44 from the field, 21 of 41 from beyond the three-point line, and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line.

This was an absolutely disgusting display of sportsmanship. There was no reason to score 201 points on a team that only dressed six players. The coach should be ashamed that he allowed his team to play like that.

An excellent point. Nobody cares about sportsmanship these days. If only the fans could do something about it...

About Me

My photo
First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language. Hence I am choosing "male" under protest.
