Fyodor's College Football Picks of the Week.

1) The guys who set the lines are professionals. Their job is to make each game look as attractive as possible to everyone. That way they even out the amount of money bet on each side.

Instant translation: The house wins no matter who wins. That's why people get into the gambling business.

2) I am just a fan. I won't even keep track of these picks week to week if it gets too embarrassing.

3) There is no such thing as "inside information". Especially in the pros.

4) If those idiot touts on tv and in the paper were any good, they wouldn't go public with their genius. They'd sit at Harrah's sports book from open to close and then go out and buy $2,000 an hour hookers who dress like high school girls.

5) Gambling is stupid. You cannot win.

That being said, here are my college picks for this week.


Friday 11/10


Western Michigan (+6) at Central Michigan
I will roll the dice with CMU one more time.
FINAL: Central Michigan 31 Western Michigan 7 - Fyodor wins!


UTEP (+2) at UAB
I'll take the Blazers to cover at home.
FINAL: Texas-El Paso 36 Alabama-Birmingham 17 - Fyodor loses!

Saturday 11/11


Georgia Tech (-13.5) at North Carolina
The Yellow Jackets should cover by two touchdowns on the road.
FINAL: Georgia Tech 7 UNC 0 - Fyodor loses! (Tech comes up small.)


NC State (+17) at Clemson
It's time for Clemson to make a statement. The Tigers cover the 17 easily.
FINAL: Clemson 20 NC State 14 - Fyodor loses! (Talk about small..)


Cincinnati (+18) at West Virginia
The Mountaineers are angry and will take it out on the Bearcats. Pick WVU.
FINAL: WVU 42 Cincinnati 24 - PUSH! (The Mountaineers are vulnerable! Go Rutgers!)


Wisconsin (-1.5) at Iowa
The one loss Badgers only a point and a half favorite? I'm all over this one. Take Wisconsin. Big time.
FINAL: Wisconsin 24 Iowa 21 - Fyodor wins! (A win is a win is a win.)


Georgia (+12.5) at Auburn
The number is too big for me. Take the Bulldogs and the points.
FINAL: Georgia 37 Auburn 15 - Fyodor wins! (Yep. Go Rutgers!)


Navy (-14) at Eastern Michigan
The Middies have burned me before, but EMU doesn't have much. I'm guessing Navy brings their "A Game". Pick Navy.
FINAL: Navy 49 Eastern Michigan 21 - Fyodor wins! (BTW, is there a Northern or Southern Michigan?


Pittsburgh (-8) at Connecticut
The Panthers looked awful last week. I'll take UConn and the points and hope Pitt can manage to win a close one.
FINAL: UConn 46 Pitt 45 - Fyodor wins! (The Panthers are awful. Bring on basketball season!)



South Carolina (+12.5) at Florida
The Gamecocks have no business being in this game, but Coach Superior is gonna try to teach his old team a thing or two. Take The Other Carolina and the points.
FINAL: Florida 17 South Carolina 16 - Fyodor wins! (The Gators should have dropped farther in the stinking BCS standings! Their offense is pitiful and they should be ashamed of this performance in The Swamp. Go Rutgers!)


Ohio State (-23) at Northwestern
The second straight bad game for OSU. Pick NW.
FINAL: OSU 54 Northwestern 10 - Fyodor loses! (What was I thinking?)


Michigan (-19) at Indiana
The Wolverines will not be caught napping again this week. Take Michigan.
FINAL: Michigan 34 Indiana 3 - Fyodor wins!


Miami (+3.5) at Maryland
Take the Terps at home.
FINAL: Maryland 14 Miami 13 - Fyodor loses!


Temple (-36.5) at Penn State
Coach Paterno's out! Can the Lions score 37? I say no. Take the Owls and the points.
FINAL: PSU 47 Temple 0 - Fyodor loses! (Hmmm...uh, Joe?)


Nebraska (-1) at Texas A&M
I want to take A&M, but can't. Pick the Huskers.
FINAL: Nebraska 28 Texas A&M 27 - Fyodor loses! (A very exciting finish.)


California (-14) at Arizona
The Golden Bears can smell BCS. Cal covers easily.
FINAL: Arizona 24 Cal 20 - Fyodor loses! (Wow. So much for all that "The Tennessee game was an aberration" talk. Cal came up really small. Congrats to the Wildcats. Go Rutgers!)

Notre Dame (-11.5) at Air Force
Everybody plays tough against the Irish, but the Falcons don't have the horses to keep it close. Pick Notre Dame.
FINAL: Notre Dame 39 Air Force 17 - Fyodor wins! (The Fighting Irish also should be ranked ahead of Florida. Go Rutgers!)


Boise State (-13.5) at San Jose State
The Broncos wish they could sniff the BCS. They take out their angst on SJSU and cover easily.
FINAL: Boise State 23 San Jose State 20 - Fyodor loses! (I finally pay attention to the Broncos and this is how they repay me?)


Oregon State (-2) at UCLA
The Bruins have been a big disappointment. I expect more of the same this week. Pick the Beavers.
FINAL: UCLA 25 Oregon State 7 - Fyodor loses! (UCLA actually played well. Go figure.)


Duke (+30) at Boston College
This number is just too big. The Eagles could cover, but I doubt they will. If I must, I'll take the Blue Devils and the points.

Texas Tech (+9) at Oklahoma
The Red Raiders are all O and no D. Take the Sooners.
FINAL: Oklahoma 34 Texas Tech 24 - Fyodor wins!


Tennessee (+5.5) at Arkansas
I'm picking the Razorbacks.
FINAL: Arkansas 31 Tennessee 14 - Fyodor wins! (Go Rutgers!)


Alabama (+18) at LSU
The Tigers will cover this big number at home.
FINAL: LSU 28 Alabama 14 - Fyodor loses! (I could have used that last-second TD you passed up, Coach.)


Wake Forest (+8.5) at Florida State
I'm taking the Demon Deacons, baby!

Texas (-16) at Kansas State
The Longhorns roll by at least four touchdowns!

Oregon (+8) at USC
Take the Ducks and the points in a big road upset.
