Frank Melton, Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, is guilty of honestly giving a damn and not behaving as a politician should. His Honor seems to be too much of a man for the pansies-that-be.
He may be be crazy, but "in an insane society, the sane man must appear to be insane."

The Clarion-Ledger - Non-residents can have Melton! It seems to me that a lot of people write letters praising Frank Melton, and most are from outside Jackson. It is easy to say he is doing a good job here because he is not targeting you.
Melton has been good for the city
The Clarion-Ledger - My family has owned a business for 70 years in Jackson. We have had burglaries yearly in the Farish Street business district. Until last year, no mayor had seemed interested. Mayor Frank Melton showed interest and investigated the burglaries and had the culprit arrested recently.

On Wednesday, Melton called The Clarion-Ledger to say he would defy District Attorney Faye Peterson and not comply with the conditions of his bond forbidding him from using the Police Department's Mobile Command Unit.

Melton Supporters Pack City Council
WLBT 3 - Supporters of Mayor Frank Melton packed the council chambers, even addressing the council and the mayor about their feelings toward the indictment. Council members wanted to highlight economic development, but the crowds that gathered at city hall had only one message...fight Frank fight.

WLBT 3 - Jackson Mayor Frank Melton returned to the duties of the office Monday speaking with department heads at the Hood Building. Melton was released on bond.
