The 1980's, again.

I don't think The Knack ever qualified as a "rock band". Do you remember the "rumors" they were the reunited Beatles?

SOHH: Run DMC Caught Up In "Tricky" Legal Battle, Sued Over 27-Year-Old Song

Members of the rock band The Knack filed a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles against Run DMC claiming the group used an unlicensed sample for a song.

According to The Associated Press, the copyright-infringement suit claims Run DMC used major sections and a guitar riff from The Knack's 1979 hit "My Sharona" for their 1986 song "It's Tricky" without permission.

In addition to members of Run DMC, the suit is also levied at Rick Rubin, who produced "It's Tricky" as well as the group's management, publishers and record label. The lawsuit filed on behalf of The Knack members Doug Fieger and Berton Averre also claims they only recently discovered the their song was sampled. The Knack is seeking damages for all albums sold with "It's Tricky" in the track listing from 1986 onwards as well as attorney's fees.
