From The Reaping What We Sow Department:
"Ooh! Ooh! Draw male genitalia on my face! That way I'll know I belong."
Badjocks.com often has stories of athetic team hazing, which is bad enough if it's perpetrated by young men on even younger men. (Memo To Moms And Dads: Sports are supposed to build character and teach teamwork. Sports are not supposed to humiliate, degrade, and injure in the moronic pusuit of "breaking down" the individual in order to later "build him up". If that's what you want, send your kids to the US Marines.) But now, the worst of what makes boys boys is showing up in girls. (Surprise!)
Congrats to the feminist totalitarians for turning girls into boys. This is not ironic, considering that they hate men and manliness. They hate femininity even more.
Update: Northwestern Suspends Soccer Team Pending Investigation - Read the statement by Northwestern University Director of Athletics Mark Murphy here.
Those Wildcats! Northwestern Women's Soccer Team Initiation Includes Pictures of Bondage, Lap Dances, and Simulated Sex Acts
By now, most loyal BadJocks readers are familiar with our publication of pictures from various college athletic teams that seem to indicate that--surprise!--hazing still occurs regularly on campuses. They also seem to be getting more intense, more violent and frequently more sexual in nature. This most recent set of pictures are some of the most significant we have ever seen . . . and also the most complete. In all, there are 46 pictures from the original album, posted on a public picture sharing site, that appear to document the entire evening's activates.. At first, we thought they were pretty much like others we had found: underage drinking, girls in degrading outfits for the occasion, faces written on with markers, etc. Then we turned the page and found the freshman not only blindfolded but with their hands securely tied behind their backs with athletic tape. With some research we determined that this was the Northwestern University Women's Soccer Team (link to roster).
Oh, and here's part two of this story: on Wednesday we will release pictures from at least a dozen other college sports "initiations". Our research indicates that lots of pictures (possibly tens of thousands) exist from big schools, small schools, private schools, public schools, liberal arts colleges and tight-laced religious schools from all over the country . . . maybe even an Ivy League school! So, to all the college athletic directors out there, we suggest you have a talk with your coaches before Wednesday and ask them if they know of any of this stuff going on at your schools, because chances are, a dozen or so of you will get the wrong answer from them.

(Nota Bene: Though not obscene by today's standards and positively wholesome by Internet standards, these photos are not pleasant. I suggest parents of children involved in sports look at them all and teach their children well. No "team" is worth this nonsense. No real teammate would do this sort of thing to anyone. Period.)
Before you start, you may want to read "Hazing 101: An Overview of the Photo Album of Northwestern Women's Soccer Team" by our favorite hazing expert, Dr. Susan Lipkins.
How prevalent is hazing at the NCAA Division I level? Fortunately for us, New Mexico visiting assistant professor Colleen McGlone completed an extensive survey just last fall on the subject. The big shocker? The high percent of female athletes who reported being hazed. Too bad Ms. McGlone didn't have access to some of our pictures! Some of the highlights of the survey include:
48.5% of athletes reported being hazed
38.7% reported knowing about hazing on women's teams at their institutions
31.1% witnessed acts of hazing on their current teams
33.6% reported hazing another athlete on their current team
Look What's in the Columbus Dispatch Today:
Rituals of Silence Prolong Horrors of Hazing, Experts Say
How timely! It's about the rash of nasty high school hazings recently, including the one that involved the coaches allegedly sexually assaulting a player on a team bus. My favorite quote is from counseling psychologist Norman Pollard, of Alfred University in New York, who says, "It goes from being silly and fun to being very dangerous and humiliating." The article also quotes our expert friend Dr. Susan Lipkins. (Columbus Dispatch)
You can be declared legally naive if you think the predatory sexual behavior of coaches is unrelated.
Update on HS Coach Sex Scandal #156 (156!!! WTF??? All those athletes carrying guns is beginning to make sense... - F.G.) From 2005:
Coach Could Get Life for Relationship With Teens
Steven Keith Oliver, 32, #156 from 2005, used to be a coach for the Lady Lake Soccer Club. That is, until he was convicted of having sex with two of his teenage players. Now, Oliver could be sentenced to life in prison this week because of charges brought by two girls, now 14, who played soccer for him and were also frequent guests at sleepovers and barbecues at his home. (Orlando Sentinal)
The other side of the story? No, I'm not kidding.
(Yes, kiddies, stupidity does have its defenders. However, most of them appear to be guys looking to meet drunk and tied up college girls just after they've been "broken down" by genius upperclassthings who claim to be merely passing on a fun tradition of camaraderie.)
And the Hate Mail Begins!
Just a sample of some of the emails we've received since this story broke:
Do you feel dirty, at all, publishing the soccer "hazing" pictures?
Regardless of how you found them, you are ruining the lives of 18-22 year old girls. Drinking happens at every college around the country. This event seems like a rather tame party compared to those at other universities around the country. Honestly, what can you tell from these pictures? There was alcohol, magic markers and kissing. As soon as people post pictures or information on the Internet they become part of the public domain and any dissemination is their own fault. Yet, that doesn't make the person who picks up the picture any less
sleezy. Who are you really trying to help by publishing this: the
college freshmen who were given alcohol or yourselves? Hazing is wrong and should be controlled. But in this situation you are trying to build a mountain out of an ant hill.
Mike P.
The Mole Anti-Defamation League wants to have a talk with you, Mr. P.
Read on and you will discover that underage drinking, feigned (we can only hope) lesbianism, and real bondage are how children have fun these days. Plus, as an added bonus, every girls fantasy: Giving guys lapdances!
Also, anyone who attacks hazing is a commie who is really attacking the American Way of Life!
You people are just screwed up. What I see in these photos are young people having fun and taking it far less seriously than overly tightly wound a$$holes. Get a grip you losers and thanks, by the way, for not having an obvious link to
provide feedback.
Bill K.
I saw on Comcast Sports Net how you are releasing pictures of hazing on sports teams. I assume you were never an athlete in school because this is part of the sport. You should mind you own business and stop reporting such useless information to people. Get a life!
Eric F.
And, our favorite from Justin W. who writes:
So much for a free country! Who are you to judge what is right and wrong. Looking at these pictures all I see are groups of people who seem quite clearly to be smiling. This is a group of young people having fun, breaking down formal barriers and learning to trust each other. Now this is on the front page news and you've strong-armed the University into taking unwarranted action. Good Job on demoralizing the American spirit.
