HAVANA - William Lee Brent, a Black Panther, who hijacked a passenger jet to Cuba in 1969, has died.His sister says Brent died from bronchial pneumonia earlier this month in Cuba. Elouise Rawlins, who lives in California, said she learned of her brother's death through friends, but has not received official word from the U-S or Cuban governments.

Brent used a handgun to hijack a T-W-A Flight originally bound for New York from San Francisco in June, 1969. He spent the next 37 years in exile in Havana, where he lived a relatively isolated life.

In an interview with The Associated Press ten years ago, he said he missed the United States and the American black community. But he was unwilling to return home, where would have faced life imprisonment, and said he had no regrets.

Brent was 75.
