It seems Pope Francis needs to brush up on his Tertullian!

It has been reported (in The ChristLast Media, I must note) that the current Pope does not like the phrase "lead us not into temptation...

"Let no freedom be allowed to novelty, because it is not fitting that any addition should be made to antiquity. Let not the clear faith and belief of our forefathers be fouled by any muddy admixture." -- Pope Sixtus III

Allen West is a naive, cockeyed optimist.

If we only had 80 commies in Congress we'd be living in a paradise of freedom and wealth.

From AP via Yahoo! News:

GOP lawmaker says 75-plus Dems are communists

Republican Rep. Allen West said he believes 75-plus House Democrats are members of the Communist Party, a claim that echoed Joe McCarthy's unsubstantiated 1950s charges that communists had infiltrated the top ranks of the U.S. government.

Addressing a town-hall meeting Tuesday in Florida, the freshman lawmaker was asked how many members of the American legislature are "card-carrying Marxists." West said "there's about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party." He did not provide names.

West's office said Wednesday that the congressman stood by the comments and was referring to the 76 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the largest group within the House Democratic caucus.

"The Communist Party has publicly referred to the Progressive Caucus as its allies," said Angela Melvin, a spokeswoman for West. "The Progressive Caucus speaks for itself. These individuals certainly aren't proponents of free markets or individual economic freedom."

West's office cited a May 2010 article on health care that appeared in the Communist Party USA pre-convention publication that described the Progressive Caucus and Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., as allies of the party but not members. The article, however, carried the disclaimer that Communist Party USA "takes no responsibility for the opinions expressed in this article or other articles in the pre-convention discussion."

Reps. Raul M. Grijalva, D-Ariz., and Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the co-chairs of the caucus, rejected West's claim.

"Allen West is denigrating the millions of Americans who voted to elect Congressional Progressive Caucus members, and he is ignoring the oath they took to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution — just like he did," the two said in a statement. "Calling fellow members of Congress 'communists' is reminiscent of the days when Joe McCarthy divided Americans with name-calling and modern-day witch hunts that don't advance policies to benefit people's lives."

Hee-hee. "Defend the U.S. Constitution", indeed.

Grijalva and Ellison said West "repeatedly polarizes the American people instead of focusing on their interests. When people like Rep. West have no ideals or principles, they rely on personal attacks."The caucus, founded in 1991, includes 75 House members and one senator and describes its goals as economic fairness, civil rights, environmental protection, energy independence and global security.

The Palm Beach Post first reported the congressman's comments.

During the Cold War, McCarthy, a Republican senator from Wisconsin, claimed that communists and Soviet spies had burrowed their way into the federal government. He never produced the documentation to back up his claims.

BTW, kiddies, Joe McCarthy was right.

And they'd do it for free if asked, just like in Clinton's day.

The Washington Free Beacon brings us  news from the front lines of Okhrana's War On Real Women:

HOSTILE WORKPLACE: Obama White House pays women 18% less than men

Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.

According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).

Calculating the median salary for each gender required some assumptions to be made based on the employee names. When unclear, every effort was taken to determine the appropriate gender.

The Obama campaign on Wednesday lashed out at presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney for his failure to  immediately endorse the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, a controversial law enacted in 2009 that made it easier to file discrimination lawsuits.

President Obama has frequently criticized the gender pay gap, such as the one that exists in White House.
“Paycheck discrimination hurts families who lose out on badly needed income,” he said in a July 2010 statement. “And with so many families depending on women’s wages, it hurts the American economy as a whole.”

See the violence inherent in the system. I'll bet you didn't know his distaff [Get it?] have to be covered from head to toe in red ink and red tape 24/7. Of course, that's still a step up from ol' Goober II's time in our national castle, when the broads [literally] had to go about on their knees when Hitlery was out of town.

It is not known whether any female employees at the White House have filed lawsuits under the Ledbetter Act.

Hee-hee.

The president and his Democratic allies have accused Republicans of waging a “war on women,” and have touted themselves as champions of female equality. Obama’s rhetoric, however, has not always been supported by his actions.

White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters last week that Obama believes it is “long past the time” for women to be admitted to the traditionally all-male Augusta National Golf Club, site of the Masters golf tournament.

But the president has demonstrated a strong preference for all-male foursomes in his frequent golf outings, a bias that extends well beyond the putting green and into the Oval Office.

“Women are Obama’s base, and they don’t seem to have enough people who look like the base inside of their own inner circle,” former Clinton press secretary Dee Dee Myers told the New York Times.

In a 2011 article titled “The White House Boys’ Club: President Obama Has a Woman Problem,” TIME magazine’s Amy Sullivan detailed the president’s fondness for male-dominated environments.

“There’s a looseness to Obama when he’s hanging out with the boys club that doesn’t appear in co-ed gatherings,” she wrote. “The president blows off steam on the golf course with male colleagues and friends. He takes to the White House basketball court with NBA stars, men’s college players, and male cabinet members and members of Congress.”

As a presidential candidate in 2008, Obama was criticized for paying the women on his campaign staff less than the men, and far less than GOP opponent John McCain paid his female staffers.

The Many Careers of Hilary Rosen

Hilary Rosen has had a lot of jobs: a Napster-killing lobbyist, the Huffington Post's political director, Democratic talking head on CNN, and, on Wednesday night, she became conservatives' current Enemy No. 1. Rosen has been Washington-famous for years, having served as the head of the Recording Industry Association of America in the early 2000s, when it was ruining the fun of college students nationwide by shutting down Napster and other file-sharing services. But she became normal-people-famous yesterday for saying that Ann Romney "never worked a day in her life," and doubling-down on Twitter. "Honest question: Who is Hilary Rosen?" tweeted Slate's Dave Weigel Thursday. Allow us to explain.

Rosen is far from the first lobbyist to become a political pundit. There's Lanny Davis, Mark Penn, Tom Ridge, Barry McCaffrey. Here's lobbyist Charlie Black serving as an "informal adviser" to Mitt Romney, meaning his job is to give reporters quotes about Romney without giving too much away. But Rosen's rehabilitation from from lobbyist to pundit is more remarkable, though, given her fun-killing role at the RIAA. In 2003, Matt Bai described her in Wired as "seen as the embodiment of a venal corporate culture hurtling toward obsolescence. It seems she’ll stop at nothing to frighten those who share music online instead of buying it in a store – hacking into networks, threatening universities and businesses, sending out subpoenas to unmask music-swappers."

After leaving the RIAA, she started OurChart.com, described in a press release as "the leading online social networking, entertainment and lifestyle site for lesbians." The site appears defunct, as the url now redirects to Showtime's page for The L Word. In May 2008, she was named political director and Washington editor at large of the Huffington Post. She began working as a Democratic analyst for CNN the same year.

On cable news shows, Rosen has been playing the role of "Democratic strategist" -- more useful for explaining Democratic thinking than for her persona itself (Here she is arguing with Ann Coulter over Sarah Palin's book. Here she is talking about Democrats' reaction to Super Tuesday.). But she also advised Democrats. There's some dispute over whether Rosen currently advises the Democratic National Committee. Romney's campaign (of course) says yes. The DNC and the Obama campaign say no. But in February, Rosen was noted for giving media training to DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Wall Street Journal's Monica Langley reported that Rosen -- along with Anita Dunn, who works at the same P.R. firm as Rosen and whom the DNC admits to working with -- told Wasserman Schultz to "tone it down" and "back off a smidgen." The congresswoman said of the advice, "I'm glad to get constructive criticism."

Even if she seemed anti-Internet in her lobbying days, she's clearly web-savvy. It appears she's a vigorous editor of her Wikipedia page, as the user Hilaryrosen has only edited the Hilary Rosen page, and done so dozens of times since January 2007. Before that, an anonymous IP address made a rather flattering edit to the page. In January 2006, this sentence was deleted: "However, many media reports of Rosen's resignation indicated that RIAA member executives had become increasingly dissatisfied with Rosen's tactics and her inability to rein in mp3 sharing online." This sentence was added: "Many say that despite Rosen's publlic loyalty to the industry, much of her last few years were spent privately encouraging the member companies to embrace internet distribution. The slow pace resulted in her ultimate frustration and in the industry being unable to catch up with the phenomenon of free file sharing." This would indicate that Rosen has media trained herself well enough to weather the current storm. As former chief of staff for Bill Clinton John Podesta told Wired back in 2003, "She can punch you in the face, and you’re still smiling after she does it."

Yes, Virginia, Democrasses love voter fraud.

From Breitbart.com comes another example of left-fascist tyranny.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that there is no proof that in-person voter fraud is a problem. He's about to see proof that even he can't deny.

In a new video (below) provided to Breitbart.com, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas demonstrates why Holder should stop attacking voter ID laws--by walking into Holder’s voting precinct and showing the world that anyone can obtain Eric Holder’s primary ballot. Literally.

The video shows a young man entering a Washington, DC polling place at 3401 Nebraska Avenue, NW, on primary day of this year--April 3, 2012--and giving Holder’s name and address. The poll worker promptly offers the young man Holder’s ballot to vote.

The young man then suggests that he should show his ID; the poll worker, in compliance with DC law, states: “You don’t need it. It’s all right. As long as you’re in here, you’re on our list, and that’s who you say you are, you’re okay.”

The young man replies: “I would feel more comfortable if I just had my ID. Is it alright if I go get it?" The poll worker agrees.

"I’ll be back Faster than you can say Furious,” the young man jokes on his way out, in a reference to the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal that has plagued Holder’s Department of Justice.

Holder has maintained that voter fraud is not a major problem in the United States, and that voter ID would not curb voter fraud in any case.

As Project Veritas has proven, voter fraud is easy and simple--and may be increasingly common in the absence of voter ID laws.

Project Veritas has already shown how dead people can vote in New Hampshire, prompting the state senate to pass a voter ID law; they’ve also shown people can use celebrity names like Tim Tebow and Tom Brady to vote in Minnesota, prompting the state legislature to put voter ID on the ballot as a constitutional amendment.

So, we're now stuck with Mittens, the Pompadoured Pussy...

Now a word from the man who may have been the last hope for freedom...

Thank you. For your support, for your encouragement, and for your prayers for our family, especially Bella. You may have heard that we were able to bring her home from the hospital last night.

She has pneumonia, but like her Dad, she's a fighter. It's in the blood.
Today I announced that I am suspending my campaign for the President of the United States. This has been one of the hardest decisions Karen and I have ever had to face together. And it has been hard in large measure because of you. I know that my candidacy has offered you a way to fight for your convictions, and I do not want to let you down.

Since I first ran for Congress in a Democrat-majority district in Pittsburgh, I have fought for struggling families. I have fought for the unborn. I have fought for those losing hope in the American Dream.

And during this Presidential race we have fought hard. Together. You have been with me every step of the way. Every volunteer, donor, friend and family has given sacrificially of their time and their treasure. We are humbled and thankful.

We literally started this campaign in our kitchen with family and a few friends. The way that you make decisions. We believe America is the land of opportunity, and decided to do what we can to protect the hope that our forefathers sacrificed to give us a future for our children. A future of freedom secured through our sacrifices today.

Over 160,000 of you contributed to the campaign. Like you have for your children, we have sacrificed almost everything we have to ensure that this hope and dream is not lost with another four years under Barack Obama. Our average donation has been only $73.10. Few races in history have so many people give so modestly to preserve liberty.

We have been outspent in most states 5-1 or even 10-1. And we still won, or we've come incredibly close. Iowa and the three-state sweep. An over 20-point win in Louisiana. Only a few votes short of victory in Michigan and Ohio. We have made history. There has been no other Presidential comeback race like ours.

Our good friends in Texas have been working non-stop to make sure that they have a say in the choice of our nominee, but without the state changing its delegate allocation to winner-take-all, I do not see a path forward that does not risk our shared objective of defeating Barack Obama in November. I want to thank them for their valiant efforts.

I am planning to do everything in my power to bring a change about in the White House. But our campaign has debt, and I cannot be free to focus on helping defeat him with this burden. I am asking you to consider one more contribution of $25, $50 or even $73.10.

From the start of this race I have offered a unique voice in the debate. One that the party and the country needs to hear. I have been your voice. I have been positive. I have been willing to stand for issues that some believe are controversial and would prefer to sweep under the rug.

We have carried the torch. High. Together we have fought for the principles that this country was founded on; that made this country great. Without fighting for them, this country cannot continue to be great.

And we have fought fair. I am proud of the race we have run. We talked issues. We avoided character attacks. We have run almost entirely positive ads.

I want to continue to be your voice. Please CLICK HERE to contribute $25, $50 or even $73.10. We have had miraculous days of almost $1 million from supporters like you that allowed us to be competitive and win key states. We need you to step up again.

When I ran for the Senate in 1994 and defeated a sitting incumbent Senator, I asked the people of Pennsylvania to Join the Fight. They did.

I know you will. God bless you, and please keep us in your prayers. And know that we keep you in ours.

Working hard for America,

Rick Santorum

Joe Scarpa, Requiescat in pace.

Once upon a time, kiddies, pro wrestling was cool. Joe Scarpa helped make it so.

From BleacherReport.com:

WWE Hall of Famer 'Chief' Jay Strongbow Passes Away at the Age of 83

According to PWInsider.com, WWE Hall of Famer Joe Scarpa, known as "Chief" Jay Strongbow, has passed away at the age of 83.

The site has not released any details on the cause of his death, but noted that Jim Ross mentioned it earlier today on his official Twitter account.

But according to SLAM! Sports, Scarpa suffered a serious fall in late 2011 and had to be hospitalized, never recovering from that injury.

Scarpa had a long and storied career in professional wrestling and was a huge fan favorite.

He began his career in 1947 in the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and was well known throughout the Georgia and Florida territories, winning several championships there.

Throughout the 1960s, Scarpa had been involved in some high profile matches with Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers for the NWA World Heavyweight Title and held numerous NWA Tag Team Championships with Jose Lothario, Don Curtis and others.

In 1970 at the age of 42, he moved to the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) where he adopted the "Chief" Jay Strongbow persona.  He had several big feuds with "Superstar" Billy Graham and Jimmy Valiant.  He held several WWWF Tag Team Championships with Sonny King and Billy White Wolf.

His most well-known feud was with Greg "The Hammer" Valentine in the late 1970's.

The two wrestled throughout the WWF and wrestled in an "Indian Strap" match in 1979 at Madison Square Garden.

Scarpa retired from professional wrestling in 1985, but continued to wrestle on occasion.

He became a WWE road agent after his retirement, and in 1994 he was inducted by Gorilla Monsoon into the WWF Hall of Fame.

His last appearance on WWE TV was in 2008, when Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley introduced him to the audience at a RAW show in Atlanta, Ga.
Scarpa was truly a legend in professional wrestling.

The Bleacher Report staff would like to extend condolences to Scarpa's family.

It'll be Bush's fault.

These guys seem to think communism will be everywhere by 2030. It's probably a safe bet.

Next Great Depression? MIT researchers predict ‘global economic collapse’ by 2030

A new study from researchers at Jay W. Forrester's institute at MIT says that the world could suffer from "global economic collapse" and "precipitous population decline" if people continue to consume the world's resources at the current pace.
Smithsonian Magazine writes that Australian physicist Graham Turner says "the world is on track for disaster" and that current evidence coincides with a famous, and in some quarters, infamous, academic report from 1972 entitled, "The Limits to Growth."
Produced for a group called The Club of Rome, the study's researchers created a computing model to forecast different scenarios based on the current models of population growth and global resource consumption. The study also took into account different levels of agricultural productivity, birth control and environmental protection efforts. Twelve million copies of the report were produced and distributed in 37 different languages.
Most of the computer scenarios found population and economic growth continuing at a steady rate until about 2030. But without "drastic measures for environmental protection," the scenarios predict the likelihood of a population and economic crash.
However, the study said "unlimited economic growth" is still possible if world governments enact policies and invest in green technologies that help limit the expansion of our ecological footprint.

The Smithsonian notes that several experts strongly objected to "The Limit of Growth's" findings, including the late Yale economist Henry Wallich, who for 12 years served as a governor of the Federal Research Board and was its chief international economics expert. At the time, Wallich said attempting to regulate economic growth would be equal to "consigning billions to permanent poverty."
Turner says that perhaps the most startling find from the study is that the results of the computer scenarios were nearly identical to those predicted in similar computer scenarios used as the basis for "The Limits to Growth."
"There is a very clear warning bell being rung here," Turner said. "We are not on a sustainable trajectory."

From ABC via Yahoo! News:

Israelis suspect Obama media leaks to prevent strike on Iran

Two reports today about Iran's nuclear program and the possibility of an Israeli military strike have analysts in Israel accusing the Obama administration leaking information to pressure Israel not to bomb Iran and for Iran to reach a compromise in upcoming nuclear talks.

The first report in Foreign Policy quotes anonymous American officials saying that Israel has been given access to airbases by Iran's northern neighbor Azerbaijan from which Israel could launch air strikes or at least drones and search and rescue aircraft.

The second report from Bloomberg, based on a leaked congressional report, said that Iran's nuclear facilities are so dispersed that it is "unclear what the ultimate effect of a strike would be…" A strike could delay Iran as little as six months, a former official told the researchers.

"It seems like a big campaign to prevent Israel from attacking," analyst Yoel Guzansky at the Institute for National Security Studies told ABC News. "I think the [Obama] administration is really worried Jerusalem will attack and attack soon. They're trying hard to prevent it in so many ways."

The Foreign Policy report by Mark Perry quotes an intelligence officer saying, "We're watching what Iran does closely…But we're now watching what Israel is doing in Azerbaijan. And we're not happy about it."

If true, the deal with Azerbaijan "totally changes the whole picture," says Guzansky, making it far easier for Israel to strike faster and harder, rather than having to fly 2,200 miles to Iran and back over Iraqi airspace.

Thursday's reports come a week after the results of a classified war game was leaked to the New York Times which predicted that an Israeli strike could lead to a wider regional war and result in hundreds of American deaths. In a column this afternoon titled "Obama Betraying Israel?" longtime defense commentator Ron Ben-Yishai at Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper angrily denounced the leaks as a "targeted assassination campaign."

"In recent weeks the administration shifted from persuasion efforts vis-à-vis decision-makers and Israel's public opinion to a practical, targeted assassination of potential Israeli operations in Iran," Ben-Yishai writes. "The campaign's aims are fully operational: To make it more difficult for Israeli decision-makers to order the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] to carry out a strike, and what's even graver, to erode the IDF's capacity to launch such strike with minimal casualties."

Ben-Yishai says much of the information in the reports has either been published or is simply wrong, but in the case of the Bloomberg report on American knowledge of Iran's nuclear facilities, "instead of forcing the Iranians to piece together all the assessments themselves, the Congress report offers them everything in one place."

The reports pressure both Israel and Iran, fellow Yedioth columnist and military analyst Alex Fishman told ABC News, but he doesn't buy into the theory that Azerbaijan will be a base for potential Israeli operations.

"I don't believe that there's news behind this story because it doesn't make sense. It's very romantic, very John le Carre, but less practical," he says, explaining that the airstrips as they are now are far too basic for a "huge wing of airplanes."

The report's purpose is "to show the Iranians that something is going on, to make them much more suspicious, much more nervous. You need this pressure in order to put them in a lower position when negotiations start."
Iran has agreed to international nuclear talks next month, negotiations that the U.S. hopes will help avert a conflict but that Israel dismisses as a stalling tactic by Iran. Asked whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sees the reports as pressure from the Obama administration, an Israeli official indicated that they fall into the very category of "loose talk" of war that President Obama recently criticized.

"When we [Netanyahu's office] were in Washington [in early March], President Obama called publicly for people to tone down the rhetoric," said the official. "The prime minister has called on ministers not to talk. We agree with Obama that loose talk is not doing anyone any favors."

A ray of hope?

Our parish is finishing up a succesful mission with Mass tonight. Each service has been better attended than those of the last few years.

Last night we celebrated the sacrament of Penance and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people who waited in line for Confession. I have never seen that many penitents in our church at one time.

I wonder how many of them confessed to using contraception...

Study: Conservatives are smart enough to discern a political agenda masquerading as science

From The Lookout, a blog at Yahoo! News:

Study: Trust in science among educated conservatives plunges

Conservatives, particularly those with college educations, have become dramatically more skeptical of science over the past four decades, according to a study published in the April issue of the American Sociological Review. Fewer than 35 percent of conservatives say they have a "great deal" of trust in the scientific community now, compared to nearly half in 1974.

"The scientific community ... has been concerned about this growing distrust in the public with science. And what I found in the study is basically that's really not the problem. The growing distrust of science is entirely focused in two groups—conservatives and people who frequently attend church," says the study's author, University of North Carolina postdoctoral fellow Gordon Gauchat.

In fact, in 1974, people who identified as conservatives were among the most confident in science as an institution, with liberals trailing slightly behind, and moderates bringing up the rear. Liberals have remained fairly steady in their opinion of the scientific community over the interim, while conservative trust in science has plummeted.

Interestingly, the most educated conservatives have led that charge. Conservatives with college degrees began distrusting science earlier and more forcefully than other conservatives, upending assumptions that less educated people on the whole are more distrustful of science.

Gauchat attributes the changes to two forces: Both science and conservatives have changed a lot in 40 years. In the post-WWII period, research was largely wedded to the Defense Department and NASA—think the space race and the development of the atomic bomb. Now the scientific institution "has come out from behind those institutions and been its own cultural force." That has meant it is increasingly viewed as a catalyst of government regulation, as in the failed Democratic proposal to institute cap-and-trade as a way to reduce carbon emissions and stave off climate change.

"People are now viewing science as part of government regulation," Gauchat says.

Previous studies have shown that climate change, the widely-accepted theory that man-made carbon emissions are causing the world to grow warmer, is very unpopular among conservatives, and especially white conservative males. In 2008, half of all conservatives believed in climate change. By 2010, only a third did, compared to more than 70 percent of liberals, according to a Gallup poll.

The issue has caused a bit of a hubbub in the Republican primary. Failed candidate Jon Huntsman wrote in August, "To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy," before later walking that back and saying there were still doubts. Newt Gingrich has been pounded repeatedly by rival Rick Santorum—who says global warming is a "hoax"—for appearing in an anti-climate change ad with Nancy Pelosi in 2006. (He's since said there is evidence "on both sides of the issue.") And Mitt Romney says he believes the Earth is getting warmer, but isn't sure how much humans are contributing to that.

The study was based on answers to the General Social Survey, which began asking people about their level of trust in various public institutions,

including Congress and the Supreme Court, in the 1970s. The dip in trust toward the scientific community didn't correlate to a decrease in trust for all political institutions, since conservatives showed increased trust in political institutions during the Bush presidency, but still found science suspicious.

Gauchat says he's done other analyses that show in Europe, the trend is flipped on its head. Liberals show a greater distrust of the scientific community. "It's which debates are salient in the public. Maybe this is a trend that will reverse if genetically modified foods becomes a big deal in the U.S." he said.

Ain't it funny how the respective races of the victim and the perps in this case are hidden from you?

From the selectively colorblind AP via Yahoo! News:

2nd suspect arrested in Miss. State University shooting

Two men have been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Mississippi State University student outside a campus dorm room. The search continued for a third suspect.

Dontae Harvey surrendered to U.S. marshals at 7:30 p.m. Monday at a residence in Jackson. Supervisory inspector Rick Griffin said in a statement that marshals developed information on his whereabouts and gained cooperation from his family. Harvey was being held at the Raymond detention center and awaiting transport to Starkville, Griffin said.

Mason Perry Jones, 21, of Jackson was arrested Sunday and charged Monday with capital murder in the case.

The possible motive in the killing "will come once the investigation is complete," said Bill Kibler, vice president of student affairs. "Police do have some clues but nothing that is releasable information."

MSU spokeswoman Maridith Geuder said the underlying charge that kicks in the capital murder charge is the sale of a controlled substance. She didn't elaborate on the charges.

She said Jones, who wasn't an MSU student, has requested an attorney.

A 1997 law passed in the wake of the Pearl High School shooting also makes a homicide on educational property a capital crime.

Sanderson, who had transferred from Holmes Community College, was shot multiple times outside a dorm room on the first floor of Evans Hall.

Kibler said Sanderson lived in Rice Hall, not Evans Hall. When asked why Sanderson was in Evans Hall on the night of the shooting, Kibler said he was "probably visiting."

The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested Jones on Sunday in Memphis, Tenn., on an unrelated, outstanding robbery warrant from Jackson. Griffin said Jones was traveling north on a bus from Jackson under an assumed name.

Marshals were acting on a tip when they arrested him after the bus stopped in Memphis. Griffin said he wasn't sure if Jones had planned to travel beyond there.

Geuder has previously said police received a call about the shooting at Evans Hall around 10 p.m. Saturday and police were on the scene within a minute. Sanderson was taken to Oktibbeha County Hospital, where he died.

Three men fled the building in a blue Crown Victoria, officials said.

The four-story Evans Hall holds about 300 male students and is located on the north side of campus. The campus of about 20,000 students is located in a rural area in the northeastern part of the state, about 125 miles northeast of Jackson.

More white on black crime.

I'll bet nobody ever fouls this.little girl again.

From Yahoo! Sports:

Teen's brutal attack on soccer field

It seemed to come out of nowhere. In the midst of a tight South Carolina girls soccer match between two area rivals, a player fell after a seemingly innocuous foul. While most anticipated that she would calmly restart play, what she did instead has sparked a criminal investigation.

The player who is now the subject of local law enforcement is Lewisville (S.C.) High senior Annette McCullough, who brutally attacked an unnamed Chester (S.C.) High opponent during a Monday match. While there is no video showcasing prior incidents between the two players, McCullough reacted viciously to a small trip that sent her tumbling to the ground.

The attack, which you can see above, featured hair pulling, punches being rained down on the Chester player -- South Carolina NBC affiliate WBTV counted 11 different punches -- and a frantic attempt to halt the attack before it reached even more dangerous levels.

Fittingly, McCullough was immediately sent off with a red card, escorted away from the field with the aid of an assistant referee. Shortly thereafter Chester County deputies were called to the scene and McCullough -- who is 18 years old -- was charged with simple assault.

[More: President Obama opens up about coaching role on daughter's hoops team]

Alan Parker, the referee of the match, made perfectly clear that this incident invoked a sense of violence that made it much more troubling than other girls soccer skirmishes.

"Some incidental contact ended in one girl going down and she just got up and started pummeling," Parker told WBTV. "It's unfortunate, it really is. Contact is a part of soccer, but when you retaliate like that, obviously, there is no place in the game for that.

"Occasionally you have players that go at it, on the field together, but in this case it was just one girl pummeling the other girl. And she didn't stop which is even more egregious."

It's hard to watch the incident without thinking back to New Mexico defender Elizabeth Lambert, whose hair pulling and general dirty play in a game against BYU received massive internet attention and eventually landed her a lengthy suspension. One could argue that Lambert's fouls may have been worse because she was more level-headed when committing them, but they certainly weren't as violent as McCullough's attack.

Now the senior is likely to receive a significant penalty -- the mother of the victim insisted that she will push to have McCullough prosecuted to the fullest possible extent and be banned from any further soccer action -- and doesn't appear to be receiving any support from his school, either.

"I know it will not be tolerated on this team and here in Lewisville," Lewisville assistant girls soccer coach Paul Atkerson told WBTV. "This is something that should not have happened, it should not have happened at all."

Honus Wagner card could fetch $1.5 million

A suburban St. Louis man who has been in the collectibles business for a quarter of a century, said the 102-year-old baseball card he's putting up for auction Tuesday is about as good as it gets.

Bill Goodwin expects the 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card — one of the most sought-after sports collectibles in the world — to fetch at least $1 million, and perhaps as much as $1.5 million, in the online auction.

"We deal with nice products, vintage stuff, but this is the ultimate," Goodwin, 64, of Sunset Hills, Mo., said. "I can't see topping this, ever."

The card is owned by a Houston businessman who has declined to be identified. The auction continues through April 19.

The 2 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch baseball card was released in cigarette packs sold by the American Tobacco Co. from 1909-11. Wagner is a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest players of his era. Nicknamed "The Flying Dutchman," he spent most of his 21-year career with the Pirates, winning eight batting titles and hitting a career .327.

But what makes the card special is that it was pulled from circulation after about 200 were issued. For years, the consensus was that Wagner didn't want to encourage smoking, especially to children. Goodwin noted, though, that Wagner was photographed with chewing tobacco in his mouth and did advertisements for tobacco companies.

"I, and some other people, think he just wanted to be paid," Goodwin said.

Historians believe about 60 of the 1909 Wagner cards still exist, but many are in poor condition. Based on a rating system by Sportscard Guarantee Corp., the quality of the card Goodwin is auctioning is better than all but five of the Wagner cards in existence, he said.

In 2011, Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick paid a record $2.8 million for the highest-graded Wagner card in existence.

Goodwin will start the bidding for his card at $300,000 but expects it to bring far more than that.

"I believe it will bring between $1.2 million and $1.5 million," Goodwin said.

Experts agree.

"Every time a Wagner goes up for auction it seems to go higher and higher and higher," said Bob Snyder of Dave and Adam's Card World in Buffalo, N.Y., which claims to be the world's largest baseball card dealer.

Frank Ceresi, a baseball historian whose FC Associates provides appraisals of sports collectibles, said the value of vintage sports memorabilia remains strong.

"Because of the Wagner mystique, you can never overestimate the value in the market," Ceresi said. "When you get into the real rare, cool old stuff like a Wagner card, they come up so infrequently that you never know where that price might go."

Goodwin is auctioning other rare 1909 baseball cards that also may bring in big dollars. That includes an Eddie Plank card that was also pulled from circulation, apparently because Plank wanted to be paid for his image. Plank is a Hall of Fame pitcher who won 326 games, mostly with the Philadelphia A's, in a 17-year career that ended in 1917.

Goodwin estimates the Plank card could be worth $300,000 to $500,000.

He is also auctioning a Sherry Magee "error" card. Magee was a good but not great player who hit .291 over 16 careers from 1904-19, mostly with the Philadelphia Phillies. What made the card more valuable is the mistaken spelling of Magee's name as "Magie." That card could bring up to $50,000.

Student walkouts planned at some schools on 'Hoodie Day'

Several Pittsburgh Public Schools will allow student walk-outs and demonstrations Friday to protest the shooting death of a Florida teenager.

The schools, including Pittsburgh Stevens K-8 in Elliot and the Creative and Performing Arts high school, Downtown, will hold "Hoodie Day" in response to the Feb. 26 death of Trayvon Martin, 17, said schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh.

"The students asked principals if they could do this, and anytime students want to organize and use their voices, we support that," Pugh said.

She said students can choose whether to participate in the demonstrations. The district will release details on the events later today, Pugh said. Martin, who was black, was shot by a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, a suburb of Orlando, while walking back to his father's house after buying a package of Skittles candy and some iced tea at a convenience store. He was unarmed.

George Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic, was patrolling the community when he called 911 and reported a man acting suspiciously, police said. A confrontation ensued, during which Zimmerman shot the teenager once. Agencies including the Department of Justice are reviewing the incident. President Obama has urged a close investigation of the case.

The Carnegie Mellon University Black Graduate Student Organization held a demonstration this week, and similar protests have popped up across the country in the past two weeks.

All that decent people can do is pray that Justice Kennedy remembers he is an American and a Catholic.

If you have trouble believing the freedom and future of the greatest country the world has ever seen hinges on the goodness or evil of a majority of nine unelected and unaccountable judges-for-life, you just might be a dumbass...or naive...or a left-fascist mass-murderer in waiting.

If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare's individual mandate, the high court is a little uneasy about wiping away the entire bill, according to some court watchers. Following the justices' remarks, SCOTUS blog's Kevin Russell ...

Lawmaker chastised for wearing hoodie in House

Rep. Bobby Rush donned a hoodie during a speech on the House floor Wednesday deploring the killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, receiving a reprimand for violating rules on wearing hats in the House chamber.

The Illinois Democrat spoke out against racial profiling and, as he removed his suit coat and pulled the hood on the sweatshirt he was wearing underneath over his head, saying "just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum."

Rush was interrupted by the presiding officer, Mississippi Republican Gregg Harper, who reminded him that the wearing of hats was not allowed and "members need to remove their hoods or leave the floor."

On Tuesday the 17-year-old Martin's parents spoke on Capitol Hill at a Democratic-sponsored panel on racial profiling.

Rush founded the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers in 1968 and served six months in prison for illegal possession of weapons when he was in his 20s. He went on to get a political science degree from Chicago's Roosevelt University, won a seat on Chicago's city council in 1983 and was elected to Congress from Chicago's South Side in 1992. In 2000 he defeated Barack Obama, then a state senator, in a primary battle for Rush's seat.

Rush lost a son to a shooting in 1999 and has been a strong advocate for victims of gun violence.

About Me

My photo
First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language. Hence I am choosing "male" under protest.
