It seems Pope Francis needs to brush up on his Tertullian!
It has been reported (in The ChristLast Media, I must note) that the current Pope does not like the phrase "lead us not into temptation...
"Let no freedom be allowed to novelty, because it is not fitting that any addition should be made to antiquity. Let not the clear faith and belief of our forefathers be fouled by any muddy admixture." -- Pope Sixtus III

Oh, no! Not another anti-goat rapist neocon immigrant from Somalia (via The Netherlands)!
Expatica: Hirsi Ali regrets collapse of Dutch coalition
AMSTERDAM — Ayaan Hirsi Ali said on Thursday night (Dutch time) that the government in The Hague should not have collapsed in the row over how Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk treated her in the passport affair.
"I feel very sad about it," Hirsi Ali told CNN. "There's a complex of feelings going through me at the moment, and I feel the Cabinet should not have resigned over this issue" Speaking from Washington, she added: "I still feel Dutch, and I still feel very involved."
The three-party centre-right government fell on Thursday when junior coalition party D66 withdrew its support.
D66 pulled out after the rest of the government ignored an ultimatum that Verdonk had to resign.
Verdonk of the Liberal Party (VVD) caused an international outcry in May when she tried to revoke Hirsi Ali's Dutch passport.
Hirsi Ali was born in Somalia and used a misleading name to get asylum in the Netherlands in 1992 to get away from an arranged marriage. Her original name was Ayaan Hirsi Magan, but she adopted her grandfather's name Ali to hide her background.
As Hirsi Ali, she was granted naturalisation in 1997 and gained recognition for her staunch criticism of conservative Islam. She confessed publicly to lying in 2002 shortly before she was elected to parliament for the VVD.
She again repeated the confession during a television documentary in May. Verdonk then held a two-day investigation into the issue and began efforts to take back Hirsi Ali's Dutch passport.
Hirsi Ali resigned from parliament and announced she was accelerating her plans to move to the US to work for a neo-Conservative think tank. Parliament ordered Verdonk to ensure Hirsi Ali kept her passport. Verdonk complied by citing the right under Somalia law to use a grandfather's name.
However she angered the opposition and D66 by continuing to deny she bore any blame.
She also had Hirsi Ali sign a statement written by government officials that stated the entire affair was the former lawmaker's own fault. This was because she was wrong to state that she had lied about her name.

Bolivia's commie-symp dictator-in-waiting runs headlong into reality.
Sydney Morning Herald: Bolivia bows to church on religious education
Bolivia's President, Evo Morales, has scrapped a proposal to drop religious education from the school curriculum because of opposition by the country's powerful Catholic Church.
About 80 per cent of Bolivians are Catholics and the leftist Government's proposal to replace religion lessons with ethics classes has drawn controversy as the country prepares to rewrite its constitution.
Bolivians go to the polls on Sunday to pick representatives to a national assembly that will begin reforming the constitution in August - a key election pledge from Mr Morales, who says the process will "refound" Bolivia.
"There's no reason for a confrontation or a distancing between the church and the state," said the archbishop of La Paz, Edmundo Abastoflor, who is also the vice-president of the country's Episcopal Conference of church leaders.
The state news agency ABI quoted Mr Morales as saying: "We've cleared up a few things, and I want to reiterate that there's a lot of common ground between the Catholic Church, the Government and MAS [Mr Morales' Movement Towards Socialism party]."
Church leaders called for talks with the President to raise their concerns over the education minister's proposals, which have also drawn protests from parents and students.
Jesus Juarez, the archbishop of El Alto, threatened to organise street protests to defend religious teaching. Impoverished El Alto is one of Mr Morales' most important support bases.
Another influential priest in the city of nearly a million people, Sebastian Obermaier, praised "the wisdom of President Morales".
Last week he said he would urge his parishioners not to vote for MAS in the July 2 election due to the proposal.
Too bad Bolivia's churchmen didn't do as much to prevent this buffoon from taking power in the first place.
Bolivia's constitution recognises Catholicism as the official religion, but the church has said it would accept a secular state.

Sun-Sentinel: Frauds, schemes and errors related to Katrina cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion
WASHINGTON · Among the many superlatives associated with Hurricane Katrina can now be added this one: It produced one of the most extraordinary displays of scams, schemes and stupefying bureaucratic bungles in modern history, costing taxpayers up to $2 billion.
Do I hear $3 billion? $3 billion? 3? $3 billion to the man in the red, white, and blue! Do I hear $4 billion?

The Stars and Stripes Forever.
Aren't you proud of our moral and intellectual superiors in the Senate and the House of Representatives who saved us from that fascist flag amendment?
NY Daily News: B'klyn's banner spirit strong despite vandals
Stung by a string of flag-burnings, Brooklyn's Marine Park is fighting back by flying Old Glory bigger and prouder than ever this Independence Day.
"You have to stand up for America," said Regina Coyle, 55, whose firefighter son, James Coyle, was killed on 9/11. "For every one that goes down, there should be five that go up to replace it."
The trouble started last month when heartless vandals torched at least eight flags flying from houses in the neighborhood, including Coyle's.
Yesterday, Coyle and her neighbors were leaving no questions about where they stand when it comes to the Stars and Stripes.
American flags flew from almost every house - some had two and three. Fire hydrants were painted red, white and blue, and miniature flags fluttered from cars and bicycles.
"There's a lot of old-timers here," said Elizabeth McManus, 46. "It's a lot of old-fashioned people who believe in what the flag stands for."
"This neighborhood always has flags," said Joe Trimboli, 54, a fifth-grade teacher. "And it doesn't have to be a holiday, either."
Cops are still hunting for the banner-burning thugs, and Coyle has been inundated with offers of support - and new flags - from politicians and strangers.
"If someone has the nerve to burn it and destroy it," she said, "I'm putting it right back up again."

Sick Story of the Day.
Sure she's a lying criminal, but she helped raise people's awareness...
The Morning Call: Charges: AIDS case was faked
Cassey Weierbach, a Freedom High School graduate who stayed busy on the lecture circuit sharing an account of being raped in childhood and infected with AIDS, has been charged with defrauding the state of more than $66,000 by falsely claiming to have the disease.
Weierbach, 27, who could not be located for comment Monday, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Ralph Litzenberger of Palmer Township on charges filed by the state Office of Inspector General. She is accused of theft by deception, forgery, tampering with records and making false statements.
She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Monday before District Judge Gay Elwell of Easton.
In June, Weierbach was the subject of a story by The Morning Call, which interviewed many of Weierbach's friends, family and former friends in exploring her tale. For years, preachers, teachers, doctors and churchgoers have come to her aid, and she told her tear-jerking story in churches, to youth groups, at medical conferences and on TV.
According to arrest records, Weierbach, whose address is listed as a Bethlehem post office box, used fabricated laboratory records to indicate she had AIDS so she could begin receiving benefits through the Northampton County Assistance Office in 2003.
According to an affidavit:
In 2004, during a routine benefits review, she provided more false information to a Bethlehem doctor, Cindy Barter, who began questioning the diagnosis because Weierbach was refusing AIDS medications. Barter obtained records from Lehigh Valley Hospital showing Weierbach had tested negative for the condition.
In February 2005, Weierbach was dismissed as a patient by Dr. Susan Sefcik of St. Luke's Medical Clinic for misrepresenting her illness. Two months later, Weierbach signed up with another doctor, Terry Pundiak, and supplied altered medical records, the affidavit says.
In August 2005, Weierbach admitted herself to Sacred Heart Hospital, where an examination showed she does not suffer from AIDS or ''any other functional limitations.'' And in March 2006, she presented herself as having AIDS to Sacred Heart Primary Care.
''I don't know whether this person can be saved, but I don't want her to hurt anyone else,'' Liz Bradbury said Monday. The gay activist and newspaper publisher told The Morning Call for the June story she suspected years ago that Weierbach's dramatic account of her life was false.
Bradbury said Weierbach did tremendous harm to the cause of AIDS awareness.
''This sort of thing starts AIDS panic and causes people to hate and fear people with AIDS,'' she said Monday.
Golly. I guess that means you are going to give back all the money she helped you raise...
Ha! Silly me.
Weierbach's travels as an AIDS activist included a tour with the San Francisco nonprofit group Hope's Voice, which coordinates HIV-AIDS educational campaigns featuring speakers diagnosed with the disease. But her time with the group was cut short when its executive director, Todd Murray, grew suspicious because Weierbach did not show symptoms and would not provide a medical emergency plan with instructions on what to do and whom to call.
Murray's doubts intensified one night on the tour when Weierbach stood up out of her wheelchair and danced in a bar after drinking some shots, said Murray, who was diagnosed with HIV at age 20.
''For someone to lie and take advantage of the system hurts not only the awareness movement, but it hurts the people who fight to live with this every day,'' he said.

It Takes A Village To Staff A Gestapo Unit Update.
US Senator Hitlery Schicklgruber (N-NY) grew up in a wealthy suburb of Chicago that is 95% white. There were no migrant workers there when she "attended Sunday school", and there are none there now. She also invented the Internet.
From CNN:
Appearing before a religious conference earlier this week, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-New York) told the audience that as a child attending Sunday school she would baby-sit the children of migrant workers so that their older siblings could join their parents at work.
"I was fortunate that at an early age, through my church, I was given the opportunity to expand my horizons," Clinton told the 600 adults and teenagers attending the Sojourners "Covenant for a New America" conference.
Yep. She expanded her horizons all the way into the realm of delusion.

The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy clemency hear and answer me. Amen.
St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse, pray for us.
Prayer to St. Anthony, Martyr of Desire
Dear St. Anthony, you became a Franciscan with the hope of shedding your blood for Christ. In God's plan for you, your thirst for martyrdom was never to be satisfied. St. Anthony, Martyr of Desire, pray that I may become less afraid to stand up and be counted as a follower of the Lord Jesus. Intercede also for my other intentions. (Name them.)
Prayer To Saint Michael The Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the divine power, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Prayer to End Abortion
Lord God, I thank You today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part to end abortion. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, and never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer For Vocations
Send forth your Spirit, Lord, into the hearts of your faithful people, that we may be conscious of our vocation to holiness and sevice to others. Grant that many of us may dedicate ourselves to You through the priesthood and the religious life.We pray especially for the needs of our own parish and diocese. Grant that we may always have sufficient good and holy priests, and dedicated Sisters to serve our commumities. We pray, too, for religious orders; that generous men may join them to become zealous missionaries in preaching the Gospel in word and action, especially to the poor and abandoned. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Jaap Penraat, Requiescat in pace.
Another hero has gone to his reward. Is there anyone like him left?
Jaap Penraat, an architect and industrial designer who helped 406 Jews sneak out of Nazi-occupied Netherlands and withstood torture to protect fellow members of the resistance, has died. He was 88.
Penraat died June 25 at his home in Catskill, N.Y., of esophageal cancer, said his daughter, Noelle Penraat.
Penraat was in his 20s when he began forging identity cards for Jews. He was arrested, imprisoned for several months and tortured, but refused to tell his captors anything.
After his release from prison, Penraat and other resistance members disguised Jews as construction workers hired to work on the defensive wall that Nazi forces were building along France's Atlantic Coast. He made 20 trips accompanying groups of refugees to Lille, France, where the Jews were met by the French underground and sent on to neutral Spain.
Speaking about his wartime experiences years later, Penraat said he had simply done what seemed necessary.
"You do these things because in your mind there is no other way of doing it,'' he told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2000.
Amen to that, Brother. (BTW, kiddies, that is how a real man thinks and acts.)
Of the 140,000 Jews who lived in the Netherlands before the Nazis invaded, only about 30,000 survived. Poland was the only nation that lost a larger percentage of its Jewish population.
After the war, Penraat became a noted designer in Amsterdam, then moved to the United States in 1958.
He is survived by three daughters, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Thanks to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune for this obituary.)

Those folks on the Gulf Coast are our neighbors. You know what to do.
First, last, and always, PRAY. Pray for the survivors. Pray for the repose of the souls of those who were killed. Pray for the families and friends. Pray for the relief workers, the cops, the firemen, the troops, and the technicians. Pray for the volunteers.
It is time to step up once again, kiddies. "Do unto others", "I was naked and you clothed me", et cetera.
As time passes, the memory of these disasters will fade for those of us fortunate enough to live outside the devastated areas, but recovery and restoration will take years.
Please, whatever you do, don't become a cynic. (I know, I know. But I just play one on the computer.) Of course there will be more horror stories like the abuse of the debit cards and that $250-odd billion federal package will produce insane amounts of corruption, but our fellow Americans will be suffering from Katrina for a long time.
True charity, (News Flash! Taxes ARE NOT charity.) like the money you donate to Catholic Charities will help the truly needy and will not foster dependency.
Catholic Charities USA is collecting financial donations to Catholic Charities agencies’ emergency and long-term recovery efforts in the wake of both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. Catholic Charities USA is consistently ranked among the highest and most efficient organizations across the country. Approximately 96 percent of contributions made to the 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund will be used for emergency response and recovery efforts.

Food For The Poor (FFP) ministers to spiritually renew impoverished people throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1982 as a 501(c)(3)corporation, our goals are to improve the health, economic, social and spiritual conditions of the men, women and children we serve.Food For The Poor raises funds and provides direct relief assistance to the poor, usually by purchasing specifically requested materials and distributing them through the churches and charity organizations already operating in areas of need. In this way, the organization serves the poor with dignity and ensures the most appropriate use of donors' funds.
Since its founding in 1982, Food For The Poor (FFP), a Christian international aid organization, distributed more than $2.3 billion in food, medical, educational, building and small business supplies to 16 countries in the Caribbean and Central America. The organization maintains an average administrative overhead of 4 percent -- ensuring the poor receive 96 percent of all donations. - First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language. Hence I am choosing "male" under protest.
