Richard Viguerie lays some conservative reality on us:
CNN and Newsmax have just published articles about my views on the presidential race which I thought may be of interest.
In an interview, I told Newsmax:
"As of today, because no top-tier, principled, small-government conservative is in the race or about to get in it, most conservatives are disappointed and sitting on the sidelines."
The article also says:
"He recently told CNN that the 'dream candidate' for conservatives is GOP Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina. Viguerie says he expects to see a 'draft DeMint' campaign begin soon."

In the CNN interview, I stated in part:
"Gingrich's brief presidential campaign is closely following his political career of the last 30 plus years of being unguided, unfocused, and unpredictable. He did serious harm (probably fatal) to his presidential campaign this weekend by referring to right-wing extremism, approving personal mandates, and attacking the 'Sainted' Paul Ryan...
"Most conservatives are not intrigued by any of the announced or widely-talked-about presidential candidates. There are some that conservatives like, admire, and respect, but they don't believe that they are going to be elected president in 2012...
"In 2008, the nominee and the base of the party were at odds and had been for 15 plus years. If the nominee in 2012 has similar baggage, Obama will be a prohibitive favorite for reelection. "

Richard A. Viguerie
