It seems Pope Francis needs to brush up on his Tertullian!

It has been reported (in The ChristLast Media, I must note) that the current Pope does not like the phrase "lead us not into temptation...

"Let no freedom be allowed to novelty, because it is not fitting that any addition should be made to antiquity. Let not the clear faith and belief of our forefathers be fouled by any muddy admixture." -- Pope Sixtus III

It seems the PISSON.ORGYfication of the Democrass party is meeting with some resistance.

This is your Right Wing Smile of the Day!

Don't believe the lying thugs of the AmericaLast media, kiddies. Get out there and VOTE FOR decent, patriotic, gun-loving, baby-saving, goat rapist-stopping, tax-lowering, budget-slashing, God-worshipping, reality-recognizing, REAL CONSERVATIVES.

As an added bonus, this will also deny power over you and your neighbors to the criminal totalitarians who are the opposite of all those things.

The Washington Times: Democrats veer to the right in fight for House

In North Carolina, former Washington Redskins quarterback Heath Shuler is running for a House seat, declaring himself a pro-life member of the pro-gun National Rifle Association, and accusing his opponent, Rep. Charles H. Taylor, of supporting amnesty for illegal aliens.

Anyone who saw Citizen Shuler play in the NFL knows he can't hit the broad side of a barn. I doubt his wife lets him play with guns.

What's wrong with this picture? Mr. Taylor is a conservative Republican, and Mr. Shuler is the Democratic challenger trying to outflank him on the right -- a not uncommon move this election year, even before the Mark Foley scandal increased the midterm vulnerability of House Republicans.

It's happening across the South and Midwest, as Democratic congressional candidates from Illinois to Georgia are casting aside liberal loyalties to compete in conservative districts where they hope to gain the 15 seats needed for Democrats to take control of the House.

Democrats "have adopted a different kind of candidate, out of the traditional political sphere," said Charlie Gerow, a Pennsylvania-based Republican strategist.

"There are especially strong cases of 'blank slate' candidates with no voting records, trying to hedge on every issue -- in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Virginia, for example -- and other Democrats running like they're Republicans, in Georgia, Indiana and North Carolina," says National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Jonathan Collegio.

A few snapshots from the campaign trail:

• In Indiana, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Brad Ellsworth, running for a House seat, says flatly, "I'm pro-life. I believe in a traditional marriage and the Second Amendment." And, yes, Mr. Ellsworth is the Democrat in this race, challenging Republican Rep. John Hostettler.

• In Georgia, Rep. John Barrow has publicly denounced a "cut-and-run strategy" in Iraq. He favors a federal constitutional amendment to ban same-sex "marriage," and he opposes amnesty for illegal aliens. Mr. Barrow is also a Democrat -- being challenged by former Rep. Max Burns, the Republican he defeated to win the seat in 2004.

• Another Georgia Democrat, Rep. Jim Marshall, voted to block House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's motion last year to investigate possible prisoner abuses in the Iraq war and says he is pro-gun and mostly pro-life. Mr. Marshall is defending his redistricted seat against former Republican Rep. Mac Collins.

• In Kentucky, former Rep. Ken Lucas is yet another Democrat running like an all-out conservative in his challenge to Republican Rep. Geoff Davis.

The reasons for the plethora of rightward-running Democratic candidates? Polls show Democrats will have a hard time winning in strong Republican and swing districts if they spout traditional Democratic positions.

Democrats occupy seats in 41 congressional districts that voted for Mr. Bush in 2004, while Republicans hold 18 seats in districts that voted for John Kerry. That means that there are more than twice as many Democrats running in Bush-Republican districts than Republicans running in Kerry-Democrat districts.

Yes! How many AmericaLast reporters have mentioned that last bit of knowledge?

To make a successful play for House control, Democrats have to win in Republican districts. But voter surveys consistently show that the national Democratic Party's liberal positions on taxes, abortion and other issues do not go down well in districts that supported Mr. Bush by 10 percentage points or more.

Demographics are destiny, baby.

Therefore, the Democrats have recruited two types of candidates: those who often sound like their Republican opponents on abortion, guns, homeland security or taxes -- and those who simply don't talk much at all.

"It took 12 years in the minority for Democrats to realize that they couldn't win elections by running like Democrats -- so they've drafted candidates who either masquerade as conservatives or keep mum on the issues as long as politically possible," Mr. Collegio said.

Democrats' blank-slate candidates usually have not held public office, and thus have no voting record for their Republican opponents to use against them.

In Pennsylvania, for example, Republican Rep. Jim Gerlach faces challenger Lois Murphy. Though she is a former state director of NARAL Pro-Choice America, Mrs. Murphy has never been a legislator and thus has no voting record for Mr. Gerlach to challenge. The Democrat has hedged on issues ranging from taxes to Iraq to immigration.

Heck, ol' Lo is a freakin' hedgehog! A hedgehog who has the blood of millions of innocent babies on her misshapen hands, that is.

TheChurchMilitant proudly endorses Mr. Gerlach for re-election!

In Virginia, Democratic challenger Phil Kellam is running in a district that went heavily for Mr. Bush two years ago. The tax commissioner in Virginia Beach, Mr. Kellam has avoided going on record on major issues and has turned down debates with the Republican incumbent, Rep. Thelma Drake.

Ah...the genius strategy also adopted by Bobby "My Daddy Was A Moderate Democrass Who Didn't Kill Babies" Casey. More the ostrich model, less the hedgehog.

Like many other Democrats, Mr. Kellam was quick to exploit the political opening afforded by the scandal surrounding Mr. Foley's reported involvement with teenage congressional pages. In an Oct. 3 statement, Mr. Kellam denounced House Republican leaders for failing to "act decisively" to "protect" pages.

In Illinois, Democratic candidate Tammy Duckworth, a disabled veteran of the Iraq war in her first bid at public office, straddles the line on major issues such as taxes, human cloning, same-sex "marriage," the USA Patriot Act and health care. To keep her policy slate blank, she has dodged debates four times with her Republican opponent.

There's not much Republicans can do about Democrats avoiding debates or appropriating basic Republican campaign themes, although the NRCC spokesman says the trend validates conservative arguments.

"If Democrats make headway this cycle, it's not because America has moved leftward, but because Democrat candidates have moved rightward," Mr. Collegio said.

Rummel on Slave Korea: Take out Kim.

Finally, someone is talking sense about North Korea and, not surprisingly, it is Professor Rummel of Democratic Peace. For the cost of a few guided munitions, we can decapitate the Slave Korean regime. Then, in five hundred years, the North will catch up to Free Korea.

On Kim's Nuclear Test
Permalink

The nuclear test claimed by North Korea, which if true (which as of this writing has yet to be confirmed) has a profound meaning for American defense and foreign policy. Given that North Korea has or will eventually have the missile capability to reach American territory, at least Alaska or Hawaii, and will also have a working nuclear warhead for these missiles, then this will give Kim Il Jung, the bloody absolute dictator of North Korea, a blank check to commit what aggression he pleases, or provide terrorists with what missiles and nuclear devices for which they will pay. We could not defend South Korea against his full-scale invasion, or sanction him for aiding terrorists, since all he needs to do is threaten to nuke Honolulu, Anchorage, or maybe even San Francisco or Los Angeles. We would have to take him seriously, and trying to destroy his missiles before he launches them is too chancy to so risk American cities and lives.

So, if we know, without doubt, or even have a reasonable suspicion that he has, working nukes, then he has an effective deterrent against American action.

Can we take out Kim's nuclear and missile capability before he is able to create working warheads? No, since thanks to previous American presidents, he has developed an effective deterrent against just such as attack, which are his hidden and protected artillery and short-range missile capability to destroy Seoul, the capitol of South Korea, and to turn our surgical strikes into another full-scale Korean war.

Among all the suggestions and lamentations about this awful political dilemma, I have not read or heard anyone suggest what I have (here, and here), which is to assassinate Kim. I'm sure there are a thousand and one ways of doing this without implicating any country, and if any ruling thug deserves it, Kim does. There are millions of souls of his victims that I'm sure would cheer. However, in our reluctance to use torture even to save American lives, unwillingness to prosecute treason, and our mothering of terrorists we capture and imprison, I doubt that we have the [insert your own word] to do what is necessary.

Sigh.

Faiths must interact, Muslim says
Deseret Morning News — Tolerance is not enough to ease the tension between Islam and the West, Indonesia's minister of foreign affairs says.

Alwi Shihab speaks at Brigham Young University forum. He says tolerance isn't enough to ease tension between Islam and the West.

"To tolerate something is to learn to live with it, even when you think it is wrong and evil," Alwi Shihab said Tuesday at Brigham Young University.

Shihab, who received a standing ovation following his address, suggested instead that religious people work to promote multi-faith and pluralist societies, which requires interfaith dialogue to understand each other's religions, as well as dialogue on common values such as human rights.

Hmmm...that sounds like Fyodor's Theory of Politically Friendly Forces.

Shihab, who delivered his address in English while quoting the Quran in Arabic, is a scholar who has taught Islamic studies at Harvard University.

In addition to working as Indonesia's minister of foreign affairs, he is an official in the country's National Awakening Party, a moderate Islamic party.

Shihab acknowledged that Muslims and Christians have been at odds for more than 14 centuries.

Some Muslims see the lax values of the West as a threat. And many Westerners see fundamentalist Islamic-inspired terrorism as a threat to their lives.

A remedy to the problem, Shihab said, is for religious leaders to discuss correct theology with members of their faiths to encourage moral behavior.

Three of the world's major religions, Islam, Judaism and Christianity, have similar roots and much in common, Shihab said.

They believe in one God, descend from Adam and Eve. They share the tradition of faith begun by Abraham and continued by Moses. They respect the Virgin Mary, admire her son Jesus and want to promote good and prevent evil, he said.

Name me two protestants and/or Jews who "respect" Mary.

Get your mohammedan kids out of government gym class!

Not that I am a big fan of the government indoctrination centers or their obesity epidemic-enabling "gym classes", but this is how Europe was lost...

Gym Attire Seen As Latest Attempt to Force Shari'a in US

(CNSNews.com) - A Muslim advocacy group's successful argument that a 9th grade student from a Virginia public high school did not have to wear regulation gym attire because of her Muslim religion, has fired up a critic of Islamic radicalism.

The 9th grader at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Va., was "threatened with failing the class if she did not wear shorts," according to a statement released by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

"The student's family contacted CAIR (of Maryland and Virginia) for assistance in resolving the issue. Following discussions with school officials, the student was moved to a different gym class and will be allowed to dress in attire that meets her religious needs," stated CAIR.

The group stated that initially, the girl's teacher told her "the law required that the student wear the shorts."

Sorry, you apologists for goat rape, if our brats can't can't read the Bible in school, your brats have to wear shorts in the gym.

In light of the dispute over the gym class attire, CAIR also noted that it would conduct diversity training for Lake Braddock's newer staff, as well as "visit local middle and high schools to review their policies for accommodating the religious needs of Muslim students during Ramadan, Eid and throughout the school year."

But Daniel Pipes, a frequent critic of CAIR and the director of the Middle East Forum, told Cybercast News Service that the gym shorts are part of a "campaign" by CAIR to replace rules in the U.S.

It is a campaign "to adapt public schools in the United States to Islamic norms," Pipes said, and "is an integral part of its effort to adapt the country to the Shari'a, or Islamic law."

"Its success in getting the gym rules changed at Lake Braddock [Secondary] School, plus its success in providing 'diversity training' for school staff, have inspired it to become more bold and to 'review the policies' in other middle and high schools in an attempt to bend them too to the Shari'a," Pipes added.

DAY 49: PLUTO HELD HOSTAGE

Left-fascists: We want women to be killed by their ex-husbands so everyone will know Penis Bad, Vagina Good.

CNSNews.com: Gun License for Domestic Violence Victims 'Dangerous,' Group Says

First comes the good news. Somebody in the Pennsylvania Legislature really gives a damn about battered women. You can tell because he is trying to help them protect themselves.

Legislation pending in Pennsylvania seeks to provide victims of domestic violence with a temporary emergency license to carry a firearm "to make sure that they're able to defend themselves," according to State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, sponsor of the bill.

However, a spokeswoman for a state domestic violence coalition called the measure "dangerous, absolutely dangerous."

More on these lying, hypocritical bastards in a minute.

Metcalfe (R-Butler) told Cybercast News Service that not only would this measure aid domestic violence victims in protecting themselves, but overall, it would decrease violence.

"Giving that person [the victim] the ability to protect themselves is going to ultimately be a great help to preventing violence," he said.

"Under House Bill 2946, any individual who can demonstrate evidence of imminent danger to themselves or a member of their family would be entitled to a temporary emergency license to carry a firearm after passing a computerized background check of criminal history, juvenile delinquency and mental health records," Metcalfe noted.

All you good citizens of the Commonwealth should write to your reps and senators and ask them to support House Bill 2964. Then vote for Lynn Swann, because Slow Eddie Rendell won't ever sign a bill that makes this much sense.

And all you kiddies in other states should write to your democratically elected representatives and ask them to draft similar legislation that will give women a fighting chance to stop the pussies who want to harm them.

"The temporary license would be good for 90 days to allow sufficient time to apply for a regular license to carry a firearm and undergo the potential 45-day waiting period under current state law," Metcalfe's office said in a press release.

According to Metcalfe, this legislation would also protect witnesses to crimes.

Hooray, Metcalfe!

"[For] the emergency carry permit, I think the majority of people applying for it would be people that would be applying for it because they have sought out protection from abuse or that they potentially may be a witness to a crime in which the criminal is out on bail making threats against that potential witness," said Metcalfe.

"My legislation is based on one very simple concept: Lives are saved when law-abiding citizens are provided with every means necessary to defend themselves against violent criminals," Metcalfe added.

Amen to that, Brother!

Now for the lying, hypocritical bastard portion of the program:

Judy Yupcavage of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) disagreed, saying research does not support Metcalfe's position.

"All of the national research we've seen and all of the data points to the fact that it is not safer to be armed for self-defense," said Yupcavage, director of communications at PCADV.

That is a lie. Scientific research shows the exact opposite to be true.

Yupcavage also cited the possible danger of providing a weapon to a victim who may not be in a proper state of mind to bear that responsibility.

"It's a very volatile time, [it's] a firearm in the hands of someone who has no training on how to use it, and there are no requirements that you be skilled in, or proficient in, the use of firearms," she noted.

Instant translation: Women are stupid, childlike, irresponsible, and mentally handicapped. They are not human enough to know or care how to defend themselves properly against predators. Women should just shut up, lie back, and let themselves be beaten to death like stupid sheep so we, their moral and intellectual superiors on the fascist left can be the only people with any kind of power.

"To even attempt to expedite the process to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon is foolhardy," added Yupcavage. "Particularly victims of domestic violence -- we just don't support it. It's dangerous, absolutely dangerous."

May God have mercy on your soul, you ignorant cow.

Furthermore, Yupcavage worries that guns do not mean greater protection, but rather more deaths.

"With guns, there is such a greater propensity to not just kill one person, but to kill numerous people," Yupcavage said. "The ease of killing more people is there. It's just much easier to pull a trigger, and whoever's in the way gets caught in the crossfire."

Instant translation: Women are too stupid to group their shots in the torsos of their abusive ex-husbands or boyfriends who have come to kill them.

Hey, Yupcabbage! I'll bet you $20 the NRA will proudly offer free gun safety courses and free shooting instruction to any abused female in the Union who wants them.

Metcalfe sees not only a direct connection between protecting oneself with a firearm and the prevention of domestic abuse, but also a link to national security.

Self-defense "is one of the deterrents that terrorists have to have," said Metcalfe. "They must be cognizant of that potential defense that an American citizen can provide for themselves and their families, as a terrorist does seek to do harm to our American citizens."

I wish he had said it more clearly, but I'll give him an amen for that, too.

This aspect reflects part of a broader legislative package concerning illegal immigration reform called "National Security Begins at Home."

"For law-abiding American citizens who are able to use their right to bear arms, I think it [right to carry legislation] is a deterrent, and ultimately, it is a defense against a national security problem that we see in terrorism," Metcalfe said.

EXACTLY!!!

TO ARMS! TO ARMS!

Eek!

The effort to emasculate the world's elephants continues apace.

AP: Doctor touts vasectomies for elephants

Wait just a darn minute...Why are male pachyderms the only ones being mutilated? I smell a harmonic convergence of left-fascist thuggery. See if you can keep up with me on this one, kiddies...

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - At Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, head veterinarian Mark Stetter demonstrates the 5-foot contraception tool for a procedure that he hopes will help control Africa's elephant population: vasectomies.

1) Disney. Walt's baby has been a commie front masquerading as wholesome family entertainment for decades.

The theme park's plan is the latest attempt to deal with what African officials say is overpopulation, although conservationists dispute that.
While those who live far from elephants may think they are endangered, thousands of them have been killed in Africa because of concerns that they had overwhelmed certain areas.

2) Conservation. For what seems like forever we have been beaten about the head and shoulders with the fact of pending elephant extinction caused by evil capitalists killing these creatures for their tusks.

Eating up to 600 pounds of vegetation a day, they can destroy their environment if too many are in a confined space. In South Africa's Kruger National Park alone, more than 16,000 were culled from 1966 to 1994, when a moratorium was enacted due to public pressure. Some parks like Kruger are still lobbying for that option.

3) Vegetation. Yesterday, we learned that African dust prevents American hurricanes that only kill and maim and further impoverish impoverished Melanin-Americans. The elephants, (Republicans!) taking advantage of their protected status, started procreating like...well, animals (and Catholics!). With their ever-increasing numbers and the impunity granted them by law, the elephants began a scorched-earth campaign against every tree, flower, and shrub in Africa with the aim of turning the whole Mother Continent into a desert. This was obviously A Karl Rove Production intended to protect the FlyingGlobalistBushMonkey regime from charges it loves poor coastal black folks less than rich coastal white folks.

"I think that obviously everybody would agree that culling has caused a lot of social issues with the elephants," Stetter said. "Part of our hope is that there will be less culling in the years ahead if we are able to use this tool."
But some African wildlife experts and advocates say the vasectomies plan is ill-conceived, blaming the problem instead on elephants in parks being confined to small areas that don't resemble the natural ecosystem.

"When it comes to conservation, we excuse ourselves and deal with the symptoms instead of the causes," said Rudi van Aarde, director of the Conservation Ecology Research Unit at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He advocates linking parks together to create larger ecosystems that will naturally limit elephant populations.

The vasectomies plan was devised to help solve problems with culling and transplanting elephants, which can adversely affect the animals' families.
Experts say younger elephants who grow up without discipline from their dominant fathers can suffer developmentally. An increase in elephant attacks on humans has been seen in parts of Africa where they live side-by-side.

4) Destruction of the elephant family unit. Since this strategy works so well against humans, the fascist left decided to use it against elephants as well. Now elephant culture is plagued by single-parent households, gang violence, skyrocketing illegitimacy rates, drug abuse, higher crime rates, and an institutionalized sense of victim status.

With a three-year, $60,000 grant from Disney's Conservation Fund, Stetter developed his procedure with help from an animal anesthesiology expert from the San Diego Zoo and a laparoscopic horse surgeon from Colorado State University. Stetter trained several African vets in the procedure this summer.

The two biggest challenges: elephants are the size of semi-trucks, and their testicles — the size of a "respectable cantaloupe," Stetter said — are behind 2 inches of skin, a foot of muscle and 4 inches of fat.

5) Cajones. Here is where the hysterical man-hating lesbian totalitarians enter the picture. As I typed above, isn't it strange that only male elephants are being targeted? After reading that description of bull elephant genitalia, it is not surprising the Womyn's Movement is filled with fear and loathing for these magnificent creatures. (And a whole bunch of a particular kind of envy, too.)

"What we want to do is get to the middle of something that's in that semi-truck, and we want to do it without emptying out everything that's in the truck," Stetter explains.

Using the tools doctors use for arthroscopic knee surgeries on humans — a laparoscope and a video monitor — Stetter can perform what he says is a two-hour procedure to sterilize male elephants without disrupting their important testosterone production.

The elephant must first be shot from a helicopter with an anesthesia dart, guided to an open area, and propped up by a crane truck so that he can stand while sleeping.

6) Black helicopters. It almost goes without saying.

Stetter said field tests, as recently as July in South Africa, have revealed no postoperative complications for the elephants.

Why doesn't someone ask the bull who wants to produce new elephants who will care for him and his cow when they get old and can't reach the most tender leaves with their arthritic trunks? How about that, smart guy?

But Jason Bell, southern Africa director for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, wrote in an e-mail he is concerned about the practicality and safety of vasectomies.

Not to mention the mutilation and the humiliation. Can you imagine what an alpha male with a vasectomy must endure? How can he maintain control of the herd? That leads us to: 7) Patriarchy. Those nazi broads again, trying to take over the world.

"This is only viable in small, confined and thus easily monitored populations," Bell wrote.

Humans have chosen to place elephants in confined areas for a number of reasons.

"People have put elephants on a pedestal for a long time, more so in Europe and America than Africa because you have to remember that livelihoods are affected here," van Aarde said. "They have become a symbol of conservation success. If you fail to take care of elephants you fail in conservation, therefore politically it has become extremely important."

8) Politics. Enough said.

Stetter realized when he started the program that he was subjecting himself to heated debate.

"One of the biggest learning curves that I've been on is that there are many different groups over there with different agendas so there is no clear-cut answer," he said.

Tin Foil Hat Story of the Day.

I thought for sure this piece of pesky left-fascist political agitprop would quickly sink back into the fever swamps of CNN whence it was spawned. If it wasn't for the Democrasses' frontal (sorry) assault (sorry) on Sodomite-Americans, this would be the front page rumor of choice for the AmericaLast media.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy clemency hear and answer me. Amen.

St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse, pray for us.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from Christ's side, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesus, hear me; Within Thy wounds hide me; Suffer me not to be separated from Thee; From the malicious enemy defend me; In the hour of my death call me; And bid me come unto Thee; That I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy angels Forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to St. Anthony, Martyr of Desire

Dear St. Anthony, you became a Franciscan with the hope of shedding your blood for Christ. In God's plan for you, your thirst for martyrdom was never to be satisfied. St. Anthony, Martyr of Desire, pray that I may become less afraid to stand up and be counted as a follower of the Lord Jesus. Intercede also for my other intentions. (Name them.)

Prayer To Saint Michael The Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the divine power, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Prayer to End Abortion

Lord God, I thank You today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part to end abortion. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, and never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer For Vocations

Send forth your Spirit, Lord, into the hearts of your faithful people, that we may be conscious of our vocation to holiness and sevice to others. Grant that many of us may dedicate ourselves to You through the priesthood and the religious life.We pray especially for the needs of our own parish and diocese. Grant that we may always have sufficient good and holy priests, and dedicated Sisters to serve our commumities. We pray, too, for religious orders; that generous men may join them to become zealous missionaries in preaching the Gospel in word and action, especially to the poor and abandoned. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Prayer Before The Crucifix

Behold, O kind and gentle Jesus, I kneel before Thee and pray that Thou would impress upon my heart the virtues of faith, hope, and charity, with true repentance for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment. At the same time, with sorrow I meditate on Thy five precious wounds, having in mind the words which David spoke in prophecy: "They have pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones."

Divine Praises

Blessed be God.
Blessed be His Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the Name of Jesus.
Blessed be His most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be His most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be Saint Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints.
May the Heart of Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament
Be praised, adored and loved
With grateful affection at every moment
In all the tabernacles of the world
Even to the end of time. Amen.

"It's the stupid, sex."

From Best of the Web Today:

The Foley scandal is actually quite similar to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. In both cases, sexually immature middle-aged men used their positions of responsibility to pursue younger people, who were also sexually immature, but had a right to be on account of their youth.

The difference is that the Republicans washed their hands of Foley as soon as they figured out what was going on, whereas the Democrats' attitude toward Clinton is--well, we'll let Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill, in an interview with Tim Russert on "Meet the Press," explain:

Russert: You're having Bill Clinton come in to raise money for you. Do you think Bill Clinton was a great president?

McCaskill: I do. I think--I have a lot of problems with some of his, his, his personal issues. I said at--

Russert: But do you--

McCaskill: I said at the time, "I think he's been a great leader, but I don't want my daughter near him."

What a ringing endorsement! And hey, say what you will about Mark Foley, at least you can trust him with your daughter!

The funny thing is, Boobra Stresshand hasn't been able to sing for years.

What do you do when you can't sing anymore and normal folks won't listen to your insane and illiterate political screeds? Why, unretire and ripoff the morons who still think it's 1975, of course.

AP: Streisand has outburst at NYC concert

NEW YORK - The most riveting moment of Barbra Streisand's Madison Square Garden concert was one of the only unscripted ones.

Streisand endured jeers as she interjected a political skit into Monday night's show, exchanging zingers with a celebrity impersonator playing
George Bush as a bumbling idiot.

Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it went on a bit too long, especially for those who just wanted to hear Streisand sing.

"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it.

Polite? Who's being impolite, you sow? Shut up and sing. That is the only thing anyone wants out of you.

"Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!"

Wow. What a classy broad.

With that one F-word, the jeers ended. And the message was delivered — no one gets away with trying to upstage Barbra Streisand, especially not in her hometown.

Gina Hughes of Yahoo! Tech fantasizes about toast messaging...

You might remember the "Virgin Mary" cheese sandwich that caused quite a stir when it sold on eBay for $28,000. Well, last week I stumbled upon the Holy Toast miracle bread stamper, a plastic stamp that leaves a Virgin Mary impression on toast.

...and throws in a bit of blasphemy just for the fun of it.

I know people create food sculptures all the time, but I think a toast stamping club may be forming somewhere out there.

Adam over at Sci-Fi Tech says the Zuse is the wave of the future. This conceptual toaster printer burns black and white pictures onto pieces of toast. It can mount on any wall, and is automatically activated when you slide in a slice of bread.

Unfortunately, it only prints abstract pictures held in its memory, but Adam says he would like to see it do some toast messaging.

DAY 48: PLUTO HELD HOSTAGE

Wait a minute...All we have to do to stop Bush's Magical Mystical Meteorology Machine from killing poor blacks is destroy all African vegetation?

AP: Study: Africa dust may hamper hurricanes

Dust storms swirling out of Africa's Sahara Desert may help reduce hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean, a new study suggests. The findings aren't conclusive, but researchers led by Amato T. Evan of the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that years with more African dust had fewer tropical storms and years with less dust had more storms.

The study is reported in Tuesday's issue of Geophysical Research Letters.
Evan and his colleagues used satellite images to study the amount of African dust blown out over the Atlantic for the years 1982-2005 and compared that with tropical storm activity.

"While we cannot conclusively demonstrate a direct causal relationship, there appears to be a robust link between tropical cyclone activity and dust transport," they concluded.

"People didn't understand the potential impact of dust until satellites allowed us to see how incredibly expansive these dust storms can be," Evan said in a statement. "Sometimes during the summer, sunsets in Puerto Rico are beautiful, because of all the dust in the sky — well that dust comes all the way from Africa."

Co-author Jonathan Foley, also of the University of Wisconsin, added: "These findings are important because they show that long-term changes in hurricanes may be related to many different factors."

HAVE MORE KIDS!

Kids are fun and cool and if you rear them properly, they will care for you when you are old and change your diapers.

Plus, making love to your spouse-for-life without the mortal sin of contraception really is guilt-free sex! And it has the benefit of being what God wants.

That's right, kiddies! The Big Man Upstairs wants to you to have a lot of guilt-free sex! In fact, chances are good He wants you to have more sex than you can handle. (Unless you are a male of Italian descent, that is. For you guys, God wants you to to give your better half a break between 7:00 and 7:30 PM every night so she can watch Jeopardy.)

The Washington Times: Bigger families gain in popularity

NEW YORK -- Laura Bennett isn't bound by convention. Professionally, at 42, she's pursuing a midcareer switch into big-time fashion design. At home, she's a mother of five -- with No. 6 due next month.

"It was nothing that we planned ahead of time," Mrs. Bennett says. "It's more that we were enjoying all the kids. We have a happy home. Why not have as many children as we can?"

Now that is a woman!

It's barely a blip on the nation's demographic radar -- 11 percent of U.S. births in 2004 were to women who already had three children, up from 10 percent in 1995. But there seems to be a growing openness to having more than two children, in some case more than four.

The reasons are diverse -- from religious to, as Mrs. Bennett reasons, "Why not?"

These families cut across economic lines, though a sizable part of the increase is attributed to a baby boom in affluent suburbs, with more upper-middle-class couples deciding that a three- or four-child household can be both affordable and fun.

The Bennetts still stand out. Among other well-off families in Manhattan, three children is generally the maximum -- one or two is much more common as parents contemplate private-school tuition of $25,000 a year even for kindergarten, and a real estate market that is far from family-friendly.

Mrs. Bennett's husband, Peter Shelton, is a successful architect, and the family can afford child-care help while Mrs. Bennett -- also an architect by training -- pursues her fashion-design aspirations as a finalist on the TV reality show "Project Runway." But their motives sound similar to those of other, less wealthy parents nationwide who have opted for five or more children.

Dr. Jeff Brown, a pediatrician affiliated with Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut's wealthy southwestern suburbs, has noticed a clear trend in recent years.

"I don't hear people say, 'We'll have two and then we're done,' where I used to hear that before," he said. "People are much more open to three-children families than they were 10 years ago."

However, really big families remain rare, Dr. Brown said, in part because many women are giving birth at older ages -- they may not have their third child until their 40s, when the prospect of a fourth might seem too daunting.

The Census Department says it has no national data specifying which demographic sectors are having more kids these days. But a leading authority on family size, Duke University sociologist Philip Morgan, says it makes sense that some well-off couples are opting for more children as concern about global overcrowding eases because of lowering birth rates overall.

"The population explosion -- fears about that are over," he said. "People used to think that having more than two kids was not only expensive but immoral. Now, people say if you can afford three kids, four kids, that's great."

Yet Mr. Morgan, who has three children of his own, doubts there will be a boom in extra-large families.

"No matter how much money the parents have, most think each of their kids should have their own place and time," he said. "More than four -- that's when people start thinking you're crazy, that you're shortchanging the ones you already have."

Bonny Clark, a mother of five from the Minneapolis suburb of Circle Pines, has encountered such skepticism. When pregnant with twins four year ago -- with three other children already -- even some of her friends were dismayed.

"There were a lot of unwelcome comments, like, 'If I had three kids and was having twins, I'd kill myself,'" Mrs. Clark said.

Mrs. Clark, 38, is aware of the buzz that large families -- in the suburbs, at least -- are a new status symbol.

Yippee!

"I thought it was kind of funny," she said "Most people who have a lot of kids don't have the time or energy to care what others think."

Amen to that, Sister.

From far-flung communities, many parents of large families enjoy comparing notes. Several Web sites have surfaced to accommodate such exchanges, including LargerFamilies.com, founded this year by Meagan Francis of Williamston, Mich.

Mrs. Francis, 29, has four children -- fewer than many of her site's regular bloggers but enough to raise eyebrows in her suburb outside Lansing. "People thought I was insane," she said.

Mrs. Bennett says the main reaction she gets from mothers with fewer children is, "How do you do it?"

"My answer is I don't think about it too much," she said. "You do what you need to do, and you have to just let go of a few things. Don't expect things to be perfect every day."

Pray that the voters of South Dakota are the beginng of the end for BIG BABYKILLING.

Casper Star-Tribune: South Dakota nears historic vote on sweeping abortion ban
WESSINGTON SPRINGS, S.D. -- Circled around a living room, sipping coffee, five long-acquainted couples grappled with their stark differences on a topic they would have skirted in the past but now cannot avoid -- abortion.

Like other South Dakotans, people in this tiny farming town are confronting a historic opportunity on Nov. 7. They'll sway a tortuous national debate by making a choice no statewide electorate has faced before: whether to approve a sweeping ban on virtually all abortions.

"None of us think abortion is a desirable thing," said Tom Dean, a family physician who hosted the discussion along with his wife, Kathy. "But it's not a problem for government to solve by passing a rigid law."

Might as well get rid of those pesky laws preventing patients from murdering physicians who misdiagnose while we're at it, eh doc?

Yet Lynn Ogren, who helps her husband run a sheep and cattle ranch, choked up with emotion as she explained her support for the ban.

"I value every child's life, whether it's from a rape or not," she told her friends. "Who's fighting for these kids?"

You are madam, you and every decent man and woman with a spine.

The measure would allow abortions only to save a pregnant woman's life. It makes no exception for other health concerns, or for cases of rape or incest; a doctor performing illegal abortions could face five years in prison.

If Big Babykilling's acolytes cared so much about the victims of rape and incest, why don't they advocate the death penalty for MEN who commit those crimes instead of the children so conceived, who are also victims?

The answer is they only care about murdering children.

The Legislature passed the law overwhelmingly in February, expecting it to be challenged in court and perhaps lead to a U.S. Supreme Court reversal of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion. Instead of suing, opponents swiftly collected signatures to force a referendum; the law will be scrapped if voters reject it.

Each side depicts the other as dominated by out-of-state groups -- and indeed such forces are active, viewing the vote as an unprecedented gauge of public sentiment on abortion. The Rev. Jerry Falwell has urged his conservative followers to donate in support of the ban; Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America have raised funds to oppose it.

"We're David, they're Goliath," contended Leslee Unruh, head of the campaign group supporting the ban. Parked outside her VoteYesForLife.com office in Sioux Falls were cars with a blunt bumper sticker: "The Killing Stops Here."

The most recent independent poll, in July, found 47 percent of voters opposed the ban, 39 percent favored it, 14 percent were undecided. When asked if they would approve a ban with exceptions for rape and incest, support rose to 59 percent.

Ah...the canard to end all canards.

Unruh, who had an abortion years ago that she now regrets, says momentum is turning as more voters hear her side's core message: Abortion hurts women. In the event of defeat, she vows to keep fighting.

"Sometimes it's not about votes -- it's about the truth," she said.

Jan Nicolay, a former school principal and Republican state legislator, is co-chair of the campaign to keep abortion legal. She knows the stakes are high.

Repansycan cow.

"People from other states are telling me, 'You're in the limelight. Good luck. Please do everything you can to defeat it,"' she said.

Among her colleagues is Russ Tarver, a retired Methodist minister who signed a statement against the abortion ban along with 16 other ministers. "Some legislators were stunned to learn there were pastors on the other side of the issue," he said.

Apparently, "methodism" means murder.

If the ban is defeated, anti-abortion activists might try again later with a milder version making exceptions for rape and incest, but the outcome would be heralded nationally as a major victory for abortion rights. If the ban is approved, several other state legislatures might follow South Dakota's example -- building momentum for a possible Supreme Court review of Roe v. Wade.

Each side has recruited South Dakota rape victims to aid their campaigns.
Connie Pich, impregnated by a rapist as a teenager in 1973, said victims must be able to choose freely whether to bear the child. On the pro-ban side, Megan Barnett has spoken at the Legislature and in campaign videos about how glad she is to have borne a daughter resulting from a rape.

Barnett, in a telephone interview, expressed empathy with women in comparable plights, but said abortion shouldn't be an option. "Two wrongs don't make a right," she said. "It's a baby, whether you're raped or not. You need a choice both you and your baby can live with."

The ban's supporters note that the measure allows rape and incest victims to get emergency contraception, which is effective if taken within 72 hours. Opponents say emergency contraception isn't widely available in South Dakota, and argue that many victims are too overwrought to seek prompt help.

"It's a sham," Nicolay said of the contraception provision. She noted that anti-abortion lawmakers quashed a measure this year that would have required hospitals to inform raped women that emergency contraception is available.

One of the legislators responsible for the toughly worded measure is House Majority Leader Larry Rhoden, a Republican cattle rancher. He was swayed by women's testimony that their abortions left emotional scars, but now -- aware of polls showing his side behind -- he has second thoughts.

"I've spent a great deal of time and thought wondering if it would have been wiser to write in the exceptions," he said. "We have a long row to hoe based on the numbers I've seen."

In some ways, South Dakota is an odd venue for the showdown. It has had no resident abortion provider for 10 years, and most of its 800 or so annual abortions are performed at an often-picketed Planned Parenthood clinic in Sioux Falls by doctors flying in once a week from Minnesota.

Bouchers Sans Frontières!

Sarah Stoesz, president of Planned Parenthood's Minnesota/Dakotas chapter, said even people on the sidelines of the abortion debate rallied to help the petition drive after lawmakers approved the ban.

"It was a political moment like I've never seen, a spontaneous uprising of grass-roots fury," she said. "Abortion isn't a subject people normally discuss, but this has forced ordinary mainstream people to talk about it."

A case in point is Wessington Springs, a town of 1,000 where pride in its seven churches and Shakespearean Gardens mingles with worries over business failures and an exodus of young people.

So you want to murder even younger people? Yeah, that'll help your brain drain.

Tom Dean, whose family's local roots date to 1882, and his wife, Kathy, a nurse-midwife, decided to serve on the anti-ban campaign's statewide board, then placed a small ad in the local paper explaining their stance.

"We were a little concerned -- not for our safety, but of offending our friends," said Kathy Dean, a longtime abortion-rights supporter.

For several years, the Deans have hosted a monthly discussion group, broaching an array of topics. Its members recently convened to wrestle with the abortion ban.

Near the end, after listening in silence, Evelyn Bradley spoke out.

"Life isn't always black and white," said Bradley, the wife of an Air Force retiree. (True, but abortion is always blood red, you ghoulish fool. -F.G.) "There are situations where it would be really difficult to have another child, and I'd resent the law saying you have to have it. Shouldn't I be allowed to make that choice?"

The issue has been raised at the town's Roman Catholic church by the priest, Jim Friedrich, who fervently supports the ban.

Amen to that, Father Jim.

"So far no one (in the parish) has spoken against it," he said quietly in his rectory. "The way I spoke, I doubt they'd have the guts to tell me otherwise."

AMEN TO ALL THAT, FATHER!

As if you need evidence of why the schismatics are hellbound without brakes, may I present the lutherian savant John Paulson, who undoubtedly goes by the name of Jack when he is not dazzling the AmericaLast media with his brilliant theology that smells more than a little like sulphur and brimstone:

John Paulson, minister at nearby Our Savior's Lutheran Church, takes a different tack.

"We can't read God's mind on this," he said. "As pastor, I'd support people voting their conscience with a prayerful heart."

Instant Translation: "My conscience is supreme! (Even though I don't really believe in it.) And who knows if God really minds when we chop up children?"

Ha! "Lutherism" means murder, too.

The funny thing is, Keith Olbermann is a COMMIE, not a nazi.

A guy who has been on more networks than he has had satisfied lovers jumps the shark in a surplus Soviet-era MiG...

Denver Post: Olbermann's attacks on Bush earn him higher ratings
Keith Olbermann's tipping point came on a tarmac in Los Angeles in August. While waiting for his plane to take off he read an account of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's speech before the American Legion equating Iraq War opponents to pre-World War II appeasers.

The next night, Olbermann ended his MSNBC "Countdown" show with a blistering retort, questioning the interpretation of history and Rumsfeld's very understanding of what it means to be an American.

It was the first of now five extraordinarily harsh anti-Bush commentaries that have made Olbermann the latest media point-person in the nation's political divide.

"As a critic of the administration, I will be damned if you can get away with calling me the equivalent of a Nazi appeaser," Olbermann told The Associated Press. "No one has the right to say that about any free-speaking American in this country."

I understand Keith's hero, Uncle Joe Stalin, used to "love" 'em and leave 'em too...

New York Post: KEITH GETS LOW RATINGS IN BED
A BROWN-haired beauty who claims she had an unsatisfying one-night stand with Keith Olbermann is getting her sweet revenge - she's launched a blog to warn other women about the acerbic MSNBC commentator's boorish bedroom habits.

The bitter babe, who calls herself KarmaBites1, says she doesn't want others "to fall into the same trap . . . and I want him to feel some remorse for what he's done . . . He sets his mind on a woman, lures her in, and once he gets what he wants, he refuses to ever speak to them again. And I don't think he understands the damage he's caused."

A 30-something office worker of Caribbean descent, KarmaBites1 said she struck up an e-mail friendship with Olbermann, whom she admired, and agreed to fly to New York to meet him last May. She says he came to her hotel room and opened a bottle of Merlot which he "spilled all over." Then, when "sexual activity began [in] less than an hour," Olbermann had difficulty. "I pretended he knew what he was doing," the embittered blogger writes. "I adored the guy. I didn't want him to think he was a dud in bed," so she faked experiencing ecstasy.

What now? Oh...really? That?

Baby, you need an Italian guy.

Next, he piled on excuses as to why he had to leave. "He told me he's an insomniac and that it's hard for him not to sleep in his own bed. He also mentioned he hadn't had 'company' in a while. [He said] he had an early meeting with the Yankees [and] he might be allergic to the pillows in the hotel bed."

Six days later, she claims, Olbermann e-mailed her to tell her never to contact him again. "I practically begged him to explain what I did wrong. I told him I deserved some kind of explanation for such a dismissal, but I never heard from him again." She said she's since heard from six other women who say they had brief sexual relationships with Olbermann.

She named her blog forthisreliefmuchthanks.blogspot.com, after a line from "Hamlet" she says the perennial bachelor quoted.

Poor Shakespeare. He deserves better than to be quoted by that imbecilic cad.

Olbermann's spokeswoman said she'd get back to us, but didn't.

Roto-Reuters: Heavier weight tied to poorer mental function
Overweight middle-aged adults tend to score more poorly on tests of memory, attention and learning ability than their thinner peers do, researchers reported Monday.

The findings, they say, suggest that a heavier weight in middle age may mean a higher risk of dementia later in life.

The unspeakable horror among us.

Pittsburgh's other newspaper: Police say Erie County mother used infant as bludgeon
After a night of drinking, Chytoria Lata Graham returned home early Sunday and quarreled with her live-in boyfriend, Deangelo Troop, she told police.

Pushing led to shoving and throwing things before she "snapped,'' the Erie woman told police. She grabbed the couple's month-old son and swung him through the air by the legs, using the blanket-swaddled infant as a weapon to strike her boyfriend.

Mr. Troop punched her back, prompting her to leave her apartment and call 911, she told police. When officers arrived, they found the baby, Jarron Troop, suffering from severe head injuries, and arrested Ms. Graham for causing them.

Ms. Graham, 27, remained in the Erie County Jail yesterday, unable to post $75,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. Erie police said her baby, who was born Sept. 11, was taken first to an Erie hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Hospital officials would not release information about the baby yesterday. Police, at different times yesterday, said he was in critical condition and in serious but stable condition.

Erie County District Attorney Bradley Foulk said the baby was injured during the brawl around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the second-floor duplex apartment his parents shared in the 300 block of East Fourth Street in downtown Erie.

"Never, never, never -- I can never remember anything like this," Mr. Foulk said.

In an affidavit filed to support Ms. Graham's arrest, police said baby Jarron was in a drug-induced coma in an intensive-care unit at the hospital. They said he suffered a fracture of the right temporal region and bleeding in his brain after Ms. Graham swung him and smacked his head against her boyfriend's midsection.

Bless and protect little Jarron, Lord, and his siblings.

Erie police Capt. Frank Kwitowski said Mr. Troop, 20, is the father of Jarron and another of Ms. Graham's four children. The Erie County Office of Children and Youth ordered the other children removed from the home.

Temporary custody was granted to their maternal grandparents, Gloria Graham and Cornell Petty of Erie. Officials in Erie County Family Court yesterday said no hearings had been scheduled pertaining to custody of Jarron or his siblings.

Ms. Graham surrendered to police Sunday after learning she was wanted in connection with the injuries inflicted on her son, police said. When investigators questioned her, she "gave a statement and admitted to all the facts as we know them," Capt. Kwitowski said.

According to the affidavit, Ms. Graham told police she was out drinking Saturday night and early Sunday and began arguing with and shouting at Mr. Troop when she came home. During the dispute, she said, she threw several items at Mr. Troop before turning and grabbing baby Jarron from the bed and swinging him to hit Mr. Troop, the affidavit states.

Ms. Graham said she put the baby down, then fled after Mr. Troop punched her in the eye. Police said they found furniture knocked over and broken household goods in the apartment.

Police said they later took a second statement from Ms. Graham in which she told them there was no chance Mr. Troop hit their baby. Two of her children corroborated her story, police said.

Mr. Troop could not be reached yesterday and other relatives declined comment.

Life is cheap, kiddies, if we treat it that way...

About Me

My photo
First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language. Hence I am choosing "male" under protest.
