It seems Pope Francis needs to brush up on his Tertullian!
It has been reported (in The ChristLast Media, I must note) that the current Pope does not like the phrase "lead us not into temptation...
"Let no freedom be allowed to novelty, because it is not fitting that any addition should be made to antiquity. Let not the clear faith and belief of our forefathers be fouled by any muddy admixture." -- Pope Sixtus III

How Orange Clump & The Establishfucks lost Alabama...
...when they could have run a criminally insane liar and thief with an "R" behind his name (Hey, wait just a minute...that sounds eerily familiar...) and won handily.
Clump: 'I Said Roy Moore Will Not Be Able to Win' in Alabama - The Old Gray Whore...
From Washington's other other newspaper:
Roy Moore tested white evangelical allegiance to the Repansycan Party...
From The Daily Bust:
'I Think Bannon Made an Ass of Himself': Republicans Rejoice...
Kiddies, let me cut through all the crap from both groups of fascists, left and right.
1) The Orange Genius made Senator (hint, hint) Sessions AG while playing politics. (payback for Sessions being the first big-name pol to endorse it.) Hubris, as always with this clown, was also a factor(believing it is a political genius and nobody it backs could lose in a state it won by landslide)
2) Mo Brooks was the Real Conservative in the primary. Clump, the Clumpskyites, McConnell, and The Establishfucks whacked him in favor of the Repansycan Establishfuck Luther Stranglove (though his love is not as strange as ol' Roy Moore's) and Alabamians said NO and picked Moore, a vile heretic who has been wrapping himself in The Ten Commandments for decades while ignoring most of them.
3) Then there is the NAPZI Party's favorite trans gal, @GermaineGreerInDrag. This dumb cow charged all over Alabama, spreading methane and her faux-populism, which is nothing more than a power-mad ego trip from an ignorant nobody trapped in a donated armadillo penis.
P.S. God bless the 22,000 Alabamians who wrote in "NONE OF THE ABOVE MOTHERFUCKERS", giving a giant Bronx (Birmingham?) cheer to the Repansycan right-fascist sex pervert and the Democrass left-fascist baby-eater.

Love the First Amendment. It helps us spot the assholes from a safe distance.
Forget the high-minded principles of our Founding Fathers, kiddies. In the real world, letting the fascists, totalitarians, morons, psychopaths and other perverts among us to bleat and vomit their ignorance into the public square is a great help to us normals.
Think of it this way: Wouldn't it be helpful if child molesters and rapists walked among us with their dicks always in their hands? Sure it would be unsightly, but you'd know whom to avoid. Or shoot.
Allow me to demonstrate:
1) From The Washington Times comes the latest forked-tongue Realhatespeech Heap Big Lying Squaw left after squatting on Amerika's front lawn:
Elizabeth Warren confronted over 'one percenter' status, says 'it's not hypocrisy when I do it'...
2) The dirty motherfucking Clintons took money from another dirty motherfucker. There's a big surprise. Would anyone like to bet me they won't take his money after he is "cured" in rehab?
And the Jug-Eared Jackass? Child, please. He was hoping Harvey The Self-Hating Commie would offer him a starring role in exchange for a blowjob.
Hillary Clinton, Obamas condemn Harvey Weinstein - CNNPolitics
3) Behold as the wondrous First Amendment allows us to see that Richard Spencer is a totalitarian dick and so are the left-fascist "protesters" who can't stand the thought that others might disagree with them. (P.S. I'm sure Little Dicky Spencer and his ilk [See 4 below.] also have some nasty plans for their enemies when they take over.)

End Stage Amerika: The Rise of Orange Bonapartism.
Enter the American Bonaparte, President Tweet-For-Brains. The 140 pump chump that can't climax even after all that self-abuse. (No wonder it's afraid of NFL guys with 17 kids out of 11 women.)
No, I don't think it actually believes it is Napoleon. That would be kind of quaint and endearing, actually. Madmen thinking they were Jesus or Napoleon was a thing once upon a time. It has never read a book so I doubt it has heard of either man.
No, Bonapartism is a political concept. (However, this does not mean it is sane.) Here are a few Wikipedia quotes from M. Bonaparte to illustrate our current predicament:
Napoleon thought he was France, just as A Cockjerk Orange thinks it is the USA. Of course, Napoleon had a lot of military victories that made him a bit full of himself. The Orange Menace is just a dick that thinks it something more than a dick. The Orange Suck-Hole has the same ignorant megalomania albeit without the impressive accomplishments of Napoleon. (Both however, are famous for having tiny genitals and hands.)

Jonah Goldberg is a Real Conservative. He better watch his back.
I shall give the Orange Menace credit for one thing. It has made it easier for decent folks to recognize the nazis and the commies among us.
Goldberg: No room for alt-right in GOP - Opinion - Journal Star - Peoria ...
Last year around this time, I was arguing with fellow conservatives about the insanity of finding any common cause with the so-called alt-right.
The issue wasn’t that every avowed nationalist who claimed membership in the alt-right was a Nazi or Klansman. It was that the alt-right was open to Nazis and Klansmen.
Right-wing cynics, hucksters and opportunists deliberately blurred these distinctions in the name of a right-wing popular front. Steve Bannon, now a White House consigliere, is by most accounts not a bigot. But when he ran Breitbart.com, he had no problem making it a “platform” for the alt-right.
Internet entertainer Milo Yiannopoulos was a Breitbart star for his defenses of the alt-right and its supposedly hilarious Holocaust jokes. He was only let go when it was revealed he was equally broad-minded about pedophilia as about Nazism.
In Bannon’s case, and for so many on the Right, the motivation wasn’t racism or anti-Semitism; it was the need to win at all costs.
Win what? Well, that varied. At first it was the war on the “establishment.” Ultimately it was the fight to get Donald Trump the nomination and the presidency.
In case you kids hadn't noticed, Orange Clump is The Establishment.
As the primaries wound down, the imperative for unity intensified. Why look under rocks when you can use them as stepping stones to victory? Besides, Trump was making it as clear as possible that he welcomed support and praise from any quarter.
The Right’s game of footsie with the alt-right ostensibly ended when Trump won. Bannon disavowed them once he made it to the White House. Like France after the liberation, everyone was a member of the resistance, nobody a collaborator. At least, that is, until Saturday, when the president invited speculation that the old popular front is still operational.
Whatever its status at the White House, the alt-right thinks it will replace the traditional Right. It won’t, for the simple reason that the vast, overwhelming majority of conservatives are patriotic and decent, like Americans generally. They want nothing to do with people who would overthrow the Constitution and set up racial Bantustans.
The real threat to traditional conservatism is the mindset that made it possible to form even a theoretical alliance with the alt-right in the first place: the idea that winning and fighting are self-justifying.
Over the last decade, many on the Right convinced themselves the real problem with conservatism is a lack of will. They quote left-wing activist Saul Alinsky and claim that “we” have to be like “them” by doing whatever is necessary to “win.”
During the campaign, when Trump attacked the ethnicity of an American judge or the parents of a fallen Muslim U.S. soldier, the response from his defenders was usually, “At least he fights!”
Fight? The Mess-iahdent is the biggest pansy to be elected president since Woody "No Wood" Wilson. It buys its undies where Marv Albert shops. (See Deadspin's The Comeback Pig: Marv Albert, And How To Survive Any Sex Scandal)
Such amorality was warranted, many explained, because if Clinton had won, America would be “over.” National security official Michael Anton dubbed it a “Flight 93 election,” arguing that conservatives must do anything for victory or accept certain death. In an interview with New York magazine, he went further. “If we must have Caesar,” Anton said, “who do you want him to be? One of theirs? Or one of yours?”
The election is over. Yet that spirit not only endures, it has intensified. Trump’s conservative critics, or “apostates” as Conrad Black calls us, face the same ultimatum. “The choice, for sane conservatives,” Black writes, “is Trump or national disaster.” The upshot is that the test for “sane” conservatives is loyalty to the president, not to any body of ideas/ideals. Even truth takes a back seat.
I’d point out that such thinking could invite the worst, most opportunistic creatures to infiltrate the movement. Except they already have.
I don't know who the heck Conrad Blackhead is, but he's obviously a cretin. Even Jonah doesn't get it. AmeriKKKa is over. It is time to head into the catacombs to let the fascist right and the fascist left slaughter each other.

AmeriKKKa continues her inevitable (Yep.) slide into Third World madness.
Behold the fleas with which that mangy orange cur has infested conservatism!
SUCKERS!
Neo-Nazis battling commies in the streets? Welcome to Caracas, Virginia!
SUCKERS!
If you think this is about racism, you're a dumbass. Race hatred is a tactic. We are witnessing a war for power AMONG totalitarians. ("Among" means there are more than two, kiddies.) The humanoids organizing this shit don't give a damn about anything but power. Finding some assholes willing to kill one another is easy. The violence begets worry, fear, and more violence which begets more worry, fear, and violence.
SUCKERS!
Eventually, things will get so bad folks will gladly turn to a dictator who promises to kill everyone who looks like he might get out of line. The Orange Asshat is plenty bad, kiddies, but we ain't seen nothin' yet. There is no enlightened despot like Francisco Franco waiting in the wings to grant us democracy again after 40 years or so.
SUCKERS!

The enemies of my enemy...write for Washington's other other newspaper.
First, the least appealing chick in left-fascism today, Dana Milbank:
Trump's poll numbers are bad. Here's when the bottom will drop out ...
A disturbing scene unfolded at the White House on Monday afternoon. A hook-and-ladder firetruck and a utility bucket truck pulled up to the South Portico and extended their rescue arms in the vicinity of the Truman Balcony.
Had the first lady finally decided to make a break for it?
Ha! Good one, bitch. I wonder if Dana The Wonder Cow would have joked about Jackie Kennedy trying to get away from her husband's penis which smelled like Marilyn Monroe's abortion-ridden vagina?
Did President Trump need to be talked off the ledge after his latest poll numbers?
The real reason was every bit as fanciful: The Trump White House had invited the makers of the trucks — and manufacturers of all stripes — to bring their wares to Washington to show that Trump was making good on his promise to revive manufacturing jobs in America.
This from the cow who slobbered all over The Community Organizer From The High-Yellow Lagoon for pouring trillions down the Democrass donor-hole known as "clean energy".
The president admired baseball bats and golf clubs, tried on a Stetson, asserted that the representative from an Omaha beef producer “wanted to kiss me so badly,” gave a thumbs-up from the driver’s seat of the firetruck and admired a Sikorsky helicopter. “I have three of them,” this champion of the little guy reported. Trump, whose businesses fill hotel rooms with mostly imported goods and whose daughter manufactures her clothing line entirely overseas, proclaimed this “Made in America” week.
That Trump would attempt to give the impression that he is leading a manufacturing revival makes sense: In the otherwise dismal new Washington Post-ABC poll, Trump’s handling of the economy is the only area in which he is viewed favorably by the public, by a narrow 43 percent to 41 percent.
But if Americans were to discover Trump can’t make good on his promise to lead a resurgence in manufacturing jobs— then, well, it might be time for him to call in a five-alarm blaze and ride that hook-and-ladder into exile at Mar-a-Lago.
The new poll finds that only 36 percent of the public approves of the job Trump is doing, the lowest at the six-month point in any presidency over the past 70 years, when modern polling began. Only 25 percent support him strongly. But, to paraphrase Trump’s remarks to the first lady of France, he is in such good shape — beautiful! — compared with where he would be if his supporters were to lose faith in his economic policies. Then, the bottom would drop out.
Again, La Milbank believes that anyone who doesn't get invited to the same parties as she does is a dumbass who shouldn't be allowed to vote or answer pollster's questions...
I pray that isn't true, but I haven't seen any AWUG backlash against The Great Orange Dope yet.
I asked The Post’s polling chief, Scott Clement, to run a regression analysis testing how views of the economy shape overall support for Trump when other variables such as party are held constant. The result was powerful: People who approve of his handling of the economy are 40 or 50 percentage points more likely to approve of him overall. While views of the economy closely correlate with partisanship, this means, all things being equal, that Trump’s overall approval rating should drop four or five points for each 10-point drop in views of his economic performance. Because Trump supporters are largely unconcerned with his personal antics, economic woes — not the Russia scandal or zany tweets — are what would doom Trump in public opinion.
The problem for Trump is many of his populist promises are starting to look fraudulent. Remember that Carrier plant in Indiana that Trump claimed to have saved? It’s reportedly beginning to lay off 600 people. The Boeing plant in South Carolina that Trump visited in February to showcase his fight for manufacturing jobs? Layoffs there, too. Trump denounced plans by Ford to move production of the Focus from Michigan to Mexico. Now Ford is moving the work to China instead.
Surprise! Of course, this sort of thing goes unmentioned when the commies are in charge.
As The Post’s Tory Newmyer reported, manufacturing employment hit a record low last month of 8.47 percent of overall employment. It has long been trending that way and is forecast to continue. Manufacturing wages rose less than the overall private sector.
This isn’t primarily because taxes are forcing production overseas. It’s productivity: Manufacturers can produce twice as much in the United States as they did a few decades ago with a third fewer workers. Likewise, coal mining jobs aren’t leaving the country because of regulations, as Trump tells his supporters; the jobs have been lost to market forces in the form of cheap oil and gas.
Golly, she seems to be on the brink of admitting that there are such things as market forces at work! She better be careful, the commies will be back before she knows it.
The Congressional Budget Office, led by a Republican appointee, forecast last week that the economy would grow at just a 1.9 percent clip under Trump’s proposed budget, far less than the 3 percent the White House claims and the higher levels Trump alleges. The CBO also said the Trump budget would leave a $720 billion deficit in a decade, contrary to Trump claims.
So what happens if — and when — Trump’s core backers discover that they’ve been had: They’re losing health-care coverage and other benefits, while manufacturing jobs aren’t coming back and a Trump-ignited trade war is hurting U.S. exports?
He’ll need more than a hook and ladder to escape that disaster.
Meanwhile, number two on that list, Ruth Marcus, puts Orange Clump's mouthpiece's number in her Rolodex for a rainy, bloody day:
Behind the Trump team's bluster, a dark legal strategy
President Trump’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, seems to be an adherent of the just-yell-louder-school of legal argumentation. Sekulow has employed this tactic for decades, dating at least to his maiden outing before the Supreme Court in 1987, when American Lawyer magazine described Sekulow as “rude and aggressive.”
And so it was on Sunday, when Sekulow completed his second “full Ginsburg,” a reference to William Ginsburg, the hapless lawyer for Monica Lewinsky who did his client no service by making the rounds of all the Sunday shows. Sekulow makes Ginsburg look like Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
He combines bluster and obstreperousness (“I’m going to answer your question, I am, and you’re going to let me answer it,” he lectured/interrupted Fox News’s Chris Wallace”) with obfuscatory legal jargon (“I’m not in privity of contract, as we say, with the party that’s responsible for the actual payment of the bill.”)
Sekulow compulsively redirects (“I wonder why the Secret Service, if this was nefarious, why the Secret Service allowed these people in,” he told ABC’s Jonathan Karl). He is internally inconsistent (“I mean, opposition research in campaigns happens all the time,” he told CBS’s John Dickerson, just after noting that Donald Trump Jr. had said that “if he had to do it all over again, there are things he would do differently.”)
So watching a Sekulow performance, it is tempting simply to ask: Why is this man shouting?
The better question is: What is this man shouting? Because if you turn down the volume and pay attention to what Sekulow is saying, you can deduce the disturbing outlines of where the president’s legal team may be heading. As Sekulow made the rounds Sunday, he signaled the expansion of the Trump team’s assault on former FBI director James B. Comey and, in turn, on the legitimacy of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. This is worrisome, because it lays the foundation for firing Mueller and/or issuing pardons and declaring, “Case closed.”
Thus, when Wallace asked Sekulow whether the Trump team’s repeated denials of dealings with Russia were now “suspect,” it triggered this disquisition:
“I think it’s important to put the framework here. How did we end up with a special counsel? Here’s how. … The FBI director at the time, James Comey, had a series of meetings with the president of the United States. In those meetings, he took notes. He put them on his government computer, put them in his government desk, and when he was terminated from [that] position, which you would acknowledge that the president had the authority to do, he gave them to a friend of his to leak to the press … to get a special counsel, and the special counsel is appointed.”
In this retelling, Mueller is the fruit of the poisonous tree planted by Comey. Therefore, Mueller’s appointment is illegitimate and he should go — and with him the investigation.
“So the basis upon which this entire special counsel investigation is taking place is based on what? Illegally leaked information that was a conversation of the president of the United States with the then-FBI director,” Sekulow told NBC’s Chuck Todd. “And that to me is problematic from the outset. And I think that raises very serious legal issues as to the scope and nature of what really can take place.”
Does it? In his previous round of Sunday shows, Sekulow muddied the waters by claiming that Comey had violated attorney-client privilege in revealing his conversations with Trump. As Wallace explained Sunday, this assertion was incoherent, since Comey was not acting in any way as Trump’s lawyer.
Sekulow’s pivot — to claiming that the conversations were protected by executive privilege — is scarcely more convincing. Perhaps Trump could have asserted privilege to bar Comey from testifying before Congress, especially before the firing. That’s different from asserting that Comey’s decision as a private citizen to reveal information about his conversations with the president was “illegal,” even if Comey proceeded through the distasteful cutout of a memo leaked by a friend. If such disclosures were against the law, every administration veteran who wrote a tell-all book would be in jail.
Another strand of Sekulow’s argument involves the notion that the memo was essentially government property, not Comey’s to decide to convert to his own use, even if the information contained in it is unclassified. Irony alert: This argument requires concluding that Comey took something of value from the U.S. government, while asserting that the Trump campaign did not solicit anything of value from the Russian government. On the Lawfare blog, Timothy Edgar and Susan Hennessey assess the argument that Comey’s action violated the conversion statute as “cutout.”
Even if it weren’t, what would be the relevance? Comey’s alleged crime wouldn’t make Mueller’s appointment void or voidable. A leak of classified information that is intended to trigger a criminal investigation doesn’t make the ensuing investigation improper.
But watch that space. I suspect — and fear — that we haven’t heard the last of this bogus argument.
Ruthie is just kidding, you Clumpskyites. She knows the value of a good shyster when you're in a real pinch. How do think she beat all those solicitation raps in the 1930's?

Third "Orange Clump is a dumbass waste of oxygen" piece of the day. (This could take eight years, kiddies, so pack your barf bags.)
Pence 2018 anyone?
From Jonah Goldberg at National Review:
Democrats Take Back House in 2018? Trump Probably Impeached ...
The 1998 midterm election was a debacle for Republicans, particularly then-speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Since Reconstruction, no president had seen his party gain seats in the House in a midterm election six years into his presidency. Gingrich, who made the election a referendum on impeaching President Bill Clinton, resigned after the loss. Clearly, voters had sent the signal, “Don’t do it.”
The White House thought it had dodged a bullet. But one morning, over Thanksgiving break, then–White House chief of staff John Podesta was running in Washington’s Rock Creek park when it hit him: GOP leaders are “not going to let their members off the hook. They’re going to beat and beat and beat on them until they vote for impeachment.”
It fell to Podesta to tell the still-celebrating White House staff that the midterms meant nothing, that the push to impeach the president in the House was a runaway train that could not be derailed. “This thing is rigged,” Podesta announced at a Monday-morning staff meeting. “We are going to lose.”
President Trump’s White House could use a John Podesta about now. Because no one seems to have told Trump’s team that the Democrats are every bit as committed to impeaching Trump as the GOP was to impeaching Clinton. The difference, of course, is that the Democrats don’t control the House — yet.
If they did, as the Washington Examiner’s Byron York rightly noted recently, impeachment proceedings would already be underway. And if the Democrats take back the House in 2018, it won’t matter to most members whether the country as a whole supports impeachment, because the voters who elected them — and the donors who supported them — will be in favor of it. (A recent Public Policy Polling survey found that 47 percent of Americans support impeachment while 43 percent oppose it.)
Voting bills out of the House may be enough to justify a Rose Garden party, but it will do little to sway voters who’ve been told for years that the GOP needs control of all three branches to do big things. Trump won’t be on the ballot in 2018, but his presidency will hang in the balance.

Second "Orange Clump is a dumbass waste of oxygen" piece of the day.
In his head, not ours: Kathleen Parker | OregonLive.com
In one of Walker Percy's brilliant novels, "The Second Coming," protagonist Will Barrett keeps falling down for no apparent reason. He also suffers trances during which he contemplates existential questions.
Barrett comes to mind in the era of Donald Trump.
I'm not falling down on the golf course yet, as Barrett did, but I confess to a feeling of lightheadedness coupled with slight nausea. It makes perfect sense that Barrett finds salvation in a young woman recently released from an insane asylum.
When many of those around you seem to be suffering from some sort of group mania -- believing what isn't true and defending what isn't defensible -- then the officially "insane" offer some strange solace. At least there's a rational explanation for their disorder.
Today, about a third of the nation's population seems to be suffering from a reality discernment malfunction. Have they been ingesting mushrooms plucked from bull dung? Drinking water spiked with credulity-enhancing chemicals.
FLOURIDE!
Thus, when Trump speaks in his fourth-grade, monosyllabic, syntax-challenged verbiage, they hear lyrical lucidity. (Hee-hee. Suckers. - F.G.) When he brags that he has accomplished more than any other president, save for Franklin Delano Roosevelt, his starry-eyed minions nod their approval. Exactly no major legislation has been passed by Congress since Trump took office..
That is a good thing, kiddies.
As Trump himself said, he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and they'd still love him.
This is the definition of equal madness, which seems to have spread to the highest levels, as witnessed Monday in the strangest Cabinet meeting in American history. Chief of Staff Reince Priebus spoke first, saying it was a "blessing" to serve the president. Each secretary followed suit in what became an epic, circular kiss-up, praising Trump's leadership (do you suppose the last lemming thanked the first?) and expressing his or her gratitude.
"It's an honor to be able to serve you," said Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
"I am privileged to be here," said Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. "Deeply honored."
"What an incredible honor it is to lead the Department of Health and Human Services at this pivotal time under your leadership," said HHS Secretary Tom Price. "I can't thank you enough for the privileges you've given me and the leadership that you've shown."
The only way to process such tortured effusion is to remember James Comey. You either profess loyalty, or you go back to being a member of the privileged class so abhorred by the very folks Trump tempted at the ballot box.
Most reserved in his remarks was Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who praised only the men and women of the Defense Department, not Trump. A scholar, thinker, combat veteran and leader, Mattis knows full well what evil lurks in absolute power. The blessing is that there's at least one among the crowing crowd who puts country first and worships no mortal man.
But what to make of the rest of these Americans who seem unburdened by such concerns? Or this president, who still can do much harm? More than two dozen top psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health experts hope to provide some answers with a new book due out this fall -- "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump."
I smell a Book Of The Day!
They don't diagnose Trump, which ethically they can't do without examining the patient. They do, however, discuss his symptoms, which leads them to conclude that Trump is a "complex, if dangerously mad, man." They also propose that his mental illness is affecting the nation's mental health as well.
These experts will likely learn what many journalists have discovered: Only the already-convinced will read the book and the rest will remain convinced of their certitude. The trouble is that when one is daily immersed in clouds of distraction, it's difficult to recall what "normal" looks like.
Before long, I wouldn't be surprised to see a movement of Americans dressed in all-white and smoking cigarettes, mutely watching their former friends and family go about life as though everything were the same. Barrett doubtless would find solace in such company, refugees from the Asylum of the United States.
Let's just hope we're not watching through concertina wire. (Emphasis mine. - F.G.)
Hey, Kathy, what if the wire is already up and you can't see it?
(Mind blown.)

Guess what happens when you elect a low-grade moron with the patience of a three year-old, the morals of a $10 street whore, and the attention span of a moth?
TA-DA!
The orange power-mad clown always gets its way, no matter what the hell happens to others.
It knows that when things go wrong, it must be somebody else's fault, for it can do no wrong. The travel ban is a perfect example. US presidents have always had the power to limit the types of immigrants entering the country. But it was (and is) too stupid to know it shouldn't have campaigned on keeping mohammedans out. That turned into an easy excuse for left-fascist judges to void the ban.
Let us hope it leaves office before it comes to the inevitable conclusion of EVERY power-mad motherfucker thwarted by reality: "If I start shooting people, the ones left will let me do what I want."
Trump Grows Discontented With Attorney General Jeff Sessions - The Old Gray Whore...
Few Republicans were quicker to embrace President Trump’s campaign last year than Jeff Sessions, and his reward was one of the most prestigious jobs in America. But more than four months into his presidency, Mr. Trump has grown sour on Mr. Sessions, now his attorney general, blaming him for various troubles that have plagued the White House.
But the messages caused considerable head scratching around Washington since it was Mr. Trump who signed the revised executive order and, presumably, agreed to the legal strategy in the first place. His posts made it sound like the Justice Department was not part of his administration.
The White House had little to add to the president’s messages on Monday. Asked why Mr. Trump signed the revised order if he did not support it, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a White House spokeswoman, said he did it only to convince a California-based appeals court. “He was looking to, again, match the demands laid out by the Ninth Circuit and, for the purpose of expediency, to start looking at the best way possible to move that process forward,” she said.
Alan M. Dershowitz, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School who, throughout the 2016 election, defended the civil liberties of Mr. Trump and Hillary Clinton, said the president was clearly voicing frustration with Mr. Sessions. But he said it was not clear to him that it was a personal issue as opposed to an institutional one with the office.
“What he’s saying is, ‘I’m the president, I’m the tough guy, I wanted a very tough travel ban and the damn lawyers are weakening it’ — and clients complain about lawyers all the time,” Mr. Dershowitz said. “I see this more as a client complaining about his lawyer. The lawyer in this case happens to be Jeff Sessions.”
David B. Rivkin Jr., a lawyer who served in the White House and Justice Department under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, said Mr. Trump clearly looked at the case from the lens of a businessman who did not get his money’s worth.
“He’s unhappy when the results don’t come in,” Mr. Rivkin said. “I’m sure he was convinced to try the second version, and the second iteration did not do better than the first iteration, so the lawyers in his book did not do a good job. It’s understandable for a businessman.”
Mr. Sessions and the Justice Department remained silent on Monday. But at least one lawyer close to the administration suggested that there was consternation in the department over the president’s messages. George T. Conway III, who until last week was Mr. Trump’s choice for assistant attorney general for the civil division and whose wife, Kellyanne Conway, is the president’s counselor, posted a Twitter message suggesting that Mr. Trump’s tweets “certainly won’t help” persuade five justices on the Supreme Court — the majority needed — to uphold the travel ban.
In subsequent posts, Mr. Conway said that “every sensible lawyer” in the White House Counsel’s Office and “every political appointee” at the Justice Department would “agree with me (as some have already told me).” Mr. Conway stressed that he strongly supports Mr. Trump — “and, of course, my wonderful wife” — and was making his points because the president’s supporters “should not be shy about it.”
The frustration over the travel ban might be a momentary episode were it not for the deeper resentment Mr. Trump feels toward Mr. Sessions, according to people close to the president. When Mr. Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, Mr. Trump learned about it only when he was in the middle of another event, and he publicly questioned the decision.
A senior administration official said Mr. Trump has not stopped burning about the decision, in occasional spurts, toward Mr. Sessions. Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who was selected by Mr. Sessions and filled in when it came to the Russia investigation, ultimately appointed Robert S. Mueller III, a former F.B.I. director, as special counsel to lead the probe.
In fact, much of the past two months of discomfort and self-inflicted pain for Mr. Trump can be tied in some way back to that recusal. Mr. Trump felt blindsided by Mr. Sessions’s decision and unleashed his fury at aides in the Oval Office the next day, according to four people familiar with the event. The next day was his fateful tweet about President Barack Obama conducting a wiretap of Trump Tower during the campaign, an allegation that was widely debunked.
However, Mr. Trump is said to be aware that firing people now, on the heels of dismissing James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, would be risky. He has invested care and meticulous attention to the next choice of an F.B.I. director in part because he will not have the option of firing another one. The same goes for Mr. Sessions, these people said.
Mr. Dershowitz said he thought any frustration over Mr. Sessions’s recusal, like the travel ban, was probably not personal. “I think that’s also institutional,” he said. “Almost any A.G. would recuse himself. I think he’s railing against lawyers.”

- First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language. Hence I am choosing "male" under protest.
