From The Why You Shouldn't Read Crap Department:

Navahoax
Did a struggling white writer of gay erotica become one of multicultural literature’s most celebrated memoirists — by passing himself off as Native American?
By MATTHEW FLEISCHER

The "writer" in question (some moron named Barrus) should have combined his two idioms and produced an Indian version of Bareback Mountain. He'd have won a Pulitzer and an Oscar.

The worst crime in American history is the breaking of our Indians' warrior spirit. I'd like to think there was a time when this fool would be beaten senseless for insulting the proud Navajo.

On the other hand, he appears to be the type of "man" who would enjoy such treatment.

After clicking on the link above you'll have to scroll down a bit to find the article. It is a rather long article, but well worth the effort it takes to get through it. If, that is, you are interested in what passes for culture in present day America.

There have always been literary frauds and intellectualoids who happily embrace those frauds that validate their particular world views. (Okra, call your office.) That is why I try to avoid most stuff written after WWII. It hasn't all been properly vetted yet.

I might as well warn you now so you don't blame me later: It is not a pleasant thing to read.
(Thanks to Drudge for the heads up.)
