Speaking of Mercury, Pluto is still being held hostge by the Planet Nazis.
Pasadena Star-News: Caltech astronomer gives kids lessons on the heavens
Caltech astronomer Michelle Thaller laid bare the truth about Pluto, stars and the solar system to hundreds of third-graders at the Ruth B. Shannon Performing Arts Center on Tuesday.
Thaller told about 900 private and public school students that Pluto is no longer considered a planet, and hasn't been for about a year, since scientific experts agreed on a new definition of a planet.
Pluto is now a dwarf planet, because it doesn't quite fit the new guidelines, she said.
"I didn't know that," said Demitri Stavrakis, 8, a third-grader at Orange Grove Elementary School in West Whittier.
The good news is not all the kiddies have swallowed the anti-Pluto propaganda whole.
