Albany, NY - A New York state lawmaker wants to establish weight standards for young fashion models.Jose Rivera fears the models strutting down New York City catwalks are too skinny. And he's pointing to a study linking that image to an increase in eating disorders.

Rivera is recommending the creation of a state advisory board that would set standards and guidelines for performers and models under the age of 18. The proposed board would include health experts, industry representatives, models and entertainers.

Criticism of the super-thin image of high fashion models has risen since the death of an 21-year-old, 88-pound Brazilian model in November.
