Harrisburg Patriot-News: Local clery involved in auto accident in Italy
The Rev. Bernard Quinn, a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, was killed Saturday in an automobile accident near Terni, Italy. Details of the accident were not available.
Cardinal William H. Keeler, 75, archbishop of Baltimore, and Monsignor Thomas H. Smith, 75, pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Lancaster, were injured.
The three clerics were traveling together on a holiday. Keeler suffered a broken ankle in the accident while Smith suffered cracked ribs. Both have been treated for the injuries and are planning for their return to the United States.
Quinn, 78, was in residence at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Lancaster, where he assisted with parish duties. Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Harrisburg Diocese described Quinn as "a faithul and holy priest of our diocese."
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
