Some folks in America held elections yesterday, just like they do in Iran.

First, here's the lesser-of-two-evils good news from the Maryland Soviet Socialist Republic:

AP: Rep. Cardin beats Mfume in Md. primary

BALTIMORE - Rep. Ben Cardin, a veteran congressman who voted against the war in Iraq, won the Democratic nomination to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Paul Sarbanes. Cardin had edged out his closest competitor, former NAACP head Kweisi Mfume, and 16 other candidates and will face Republican Lt. Gov. Michael Steele in November.

Now for the bad news courtesy of The Baltimore Scum:

House of Delegates - District 7 - GOP Primary
Maryland 32 of 32 Precincts Reporting - 100.00%
Max Winners=3

McDonough , Pat (i): 4,116 votes / 30.14 %

Jennings , J.B. (i): 3,701 votes / 27.10%

Impallaria , Rick (i): 3,565 votes / 26.11%

Laing , John: 1,458 votes / 10.68%

Volkoff , Nikolai: 815 votes / 5.97%

Thank you, Mr. Perusovic, for standing up for the ever-shrinking number of real Americans out there. You are a great example of what we once were and could be again if only we tried.

Good luck and may God bless you in all your future endeavors.

Now back to the "real" world.
