Chicago Tribune: Adios, Chorizo . . . until next year
Major League Baseball has put the Chorizo back in the freezer. The league had granted the Brewers a special dispensation allowing the character to participate in last Saturday's Sausage Race as part of Cerveceros Day at Miller Park, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Baseball has strict rules for clubs that want to introduce a new mascot, uniform or logo change, including a waiting period of generally 12 to 18 months.
So mark Chorizo on the physically-unable-to-perform list until next year's home opener after a slew of national publicity following his unveiling--and third-place finish.
