"The flickering light from the faggots burning in the pit made us feel gay."

This loud-mouthed jerk of a baseball manager (who used to be a loud-mouthed jerk of a player) called a loud-mouthed jerk of a sports columnist a fag...

The Times of Northwest Indiana: Guillen fans Mariotti feud

CHICAGO - Faced with a firestorm of criticism Wednesday, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he was wrong for using a derogatory term often used to describe someone's sexual orientation in describing Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti.

...boring, I know. But there's a lot of noise on this one coming from the politically correct chattering classes. Just in case it comes up at your next cocktail (sorry) party, let me lay (sorry) some reality on you, kiddies...

Fag is short for faggot, which is what some people who don't like homosexuals call other people they don't like. It is not necessarily because they think those folks are homosexual, it is used as an insult that calls a man's manhood into question.

Faggot (or fagot) comes to us from the French and means a bundle of sticks. (Although the Merriam-Webster online dictionary has "male homosexual" as the main definition.) I have also heard and seen it used to describe a cigarette butt ("the fag end"). How this ordinary word was hijacked and attached to homosexuals, nobody knows. Its fate is the same as the perfectly nice word, gay, which means happy. Homosexuals hijacked "gay" in order to make homosexuality seem less icky and immoral.

Why exactly are the professional homosexuals and their left-fascist conspirators so upset? If homosexuality is just as normal and healthy as breathing, they should be overjoyed people are saying people they know are homosexuals. After all, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

Ah, there's the rub. (Sorry.) Everybody knows it is a slur, including its practitioners. What if Ozzie had called Jay a queer or a rump ranger? Universal Outrage, that's what.

But what if he had actually used the word "homosexual"? Jay could point to his wife and kids and call Ozzie a moron, (and we'd all have a good laugh at Ozzie's expense) but could he sue for slander? Being labeled "homosexual" can't be considered derogatory today, can it?

If our moral and intellectual superiors want sodomy and sodomites to be accepted, shouldn't they encourage people to call others homos, fags, queers, et cetera? After all, it can't be a slur if it's a good thing, can it?
