A couple of years ago, I heard Van Morrison's Natalia (from the Wavelength album) as I was perusing the deli section of a local grocery store. At first, I was overjoyed at hearing one of my favorite Morrison songs from one of his most obscure albums. Then I got depressed because one of what I considered rock's hidden gems was being blared all over the processed meat.
Sometime after that I grew up and realized it was just a song.
But then again, this weekend I heard Elvis Costello's Pump It Up on a gametap.com (I think) tv commercial. I then proceeded to pull out most of what was left of my thinning mohawk.
