From The Our Wacky Japanese Neighbors Take Some More Corn Off Our Hands Department:

Miss USA 2005 Chelsea Cooley from Charlotte, North Carolina, smiles as she pulls on socks made from corn-derived Ingeo fiber at an exhibition of earth-friendly products in Tokyo on Tuesday, November 8. A group of U.S. hosiery manufacturers, including Twin City Knitting Company Inc. which makes the sweet-smelling product, have joined together to offer to the Japanese market products made from Ingeo fibre, derived from agriculture-based materials instead of oil-based substances.
