The bottom line (so far):
Israel should have annexed Gaza and the West Bank after the Six Days War and the Golan Heights after the Yom Kippur War. That's what you do when you defeat neighbors who wage war upon you. Sure, the UN pansies would have screamed for a while and then whined for a little while longer, but time and the memory of the IDF's power and effectiveness would have healed that wound.
The billions we have poured into Israel, Egypt, and the rest of the Mideast cesspool should have bought peace. Unfortunately, the Israelis' reputation for toughness was exaggerated.
And now they are beginning to pay the price.
