Pearl S. Buck's "The Good Earth" Revisited.

I am reading this "classic" for the first time since the 8th grade (or thereabout) and I have discovered I was correct all those years ago. It stinks. (It must. It carries the Okra Witless Seal of Approval.)

I do not care whether or not it accurately portrays Chinese life or not. I do not care if she won a Nobel prize for her body of work. The story stinks.

Everyone should read it, though. Read it so you can snicker intelligently if it anyone ever mentions it.
